Was getting ready to start the cam swap on my procharged 18 ram and I saw my rear main seal is leaking. Truck only has 30k on it and maybe 6k with the supercharger. I’m assuming not having a catch can did this and In the market for a catch can now. Any advice on a good one? I installed a might mouse on a buddies ctsv and I really liked the look and quality of the parts that came with kit. Love to know you guys experience and or advice on this. Thanks

You don’t think running it without a catch can, will cause a seal to blow?

U kill me, think HOW a blower works here. U know the answer, no magic fix here....
So maybe Learn how things work in life first MIGHT be the first steps here.......just sayin.

I learn FIRST, the play hard.................From the guy who spent $750+ for CAI...

Let’s go with your theory that it’s blow by on the rings. If I put a vented catch can on the truck, wouldn’t that relive the extra spike of pressure inside caused by the blower?

Are you sure it’s the rear main? Do you have a picture.

I have a Mighty Mouse setup on my truck with a whipple on it.

Read through this article by Arrington, there's some good advice in it about running catch cans with blowers, just remember they're pushing their can. But if you're blowing out crank seals the post above about ring blowby is probably more your issue, unless you've plugged off the stock PCV system when you installed the blower

I’m pretty sure. But I will grab a picture in the morning.

Thank you for that. I left the stock pcv in when I did the install. Didn’t re route anything. Just plugged the recirculation house to back of procharger where the air filter for it is

Here’s a picture of the leak

I'd pull the inspection cover and look to see which side of the flywheel the leak is on,as it could also be the front seal on the tranny.Neither are fun or cheap to fix,but if it's the tranny seal leaking,at least you'll know the rings are still good, lol

Ok I will do that.

If the leak is on the engine side of the flywheel, then you might want to buy / rent or build yourself a leak down testor and check to see how much it's leaking past the rings.

I'd lean towards wanting it to be the tranny seal if it was me,unless you're wanting an excuse to tear the motor down and spend a bunch of money throwing good pistons in it,lol

It sucks because I wanted to build the motor but backed out of it and got a cam kit from jay for the setup now and had to go with a smaller duration cam because of a scare of boost spike.

My apologies. I see it could be the front seal leaking. I took the inspection plate off and flywheel so dry but I noticed a small bead of oil from the the driver side all the way to the back. Followed it back and saw the front seal leaking

You're laughing then, front seals will go out occassionally and not because the rings are bad, especially with a Pro Charger hung off the front of the crank. Throw your cam in,and inspect the front balancer for a groove when you have it apart.Any groove that'll catch a finger nail needs to be addressed, either with a new balancer or a speedy sleeve
