So got my G2 Pro series installed from AlphaRex. I do get a park lamp out message at times, even after setting things with AlfaODB to LED. I also noticed that the top DRL does go out when the blinker kicks in unlike the video. Support told me to try the AlfaODB change, as well as said they had to due to DOT. Today I noticed that the new 2019 keeps it's bottom DRL on when the blinker goes so the DOT thing is bull.

I might try support again, not sure. Light output seems about the same as the quads, with the halogen H7 sent with the headlamps. When I get a chance i will get my before after comparison photos done.

On my 1st Gen AlphaRex lights, the DRL is only the upper LED bar: and it DOES turn off on the side that the turn signal activates. The other side remains lit. That IS design; take a look at the nose of most cars running a DRL: when they use their turn signal, the DRL drops out, then reactivates once the turn is complete. As for the bottom white light, I have to imagine it can't be lit white while in turn signal mode, so it too is in effect 'dropping out'- but it's switchback capability is really what's taking over. I think the dropout was initially suggested by DOT (can't find where it's a REQUIREMENT in the federal regs, but NYS law does require it) because most cars were using a turn signal light or headlamp in low power as the DRL- so when turning (especially in daylight), the DRL dropped out so the signal light was the more pronounced light.

Here's an article on Jalopnik I found regarding the phenomenon: https://jalopnik.com/heres-why-modern-cars-turn-off-one-of-their-lights-when-1792394567

Anybody with gen 2 lights get a parking lamp out message even after changing all relevant settings with AlfaOBD? Does the polarity of the plug matter with the parking lamp wires?

It couldn't hurt to try. How long ago did you change the parking and turn signals to led with alphaobd? I'd also try disconnecting the battery for a little bit then cycle through the turns for about 15 seconds a side then the 4 ways

I had all the settings previously done and my set of Morimoto headlights worked great with no messages. After using these it's giving me the error. I tried switching the plug around we'll see if that works but I'm not sure what else could work at this point given the Morimotos had no issues.

Whenever I put my quads back in with the switchbacks that I have for them I get the light out message. I'll turn each turn signal on for about 15-20 seconds then the 4 ways. After about 10 seconds or so the hyper flash will stop. I'll clear any codes then be fine.

I'll give that a try and see what happens. The weird part is I don't get any hyper flashing at all, just the light out message and only when the headlights are on. When they are off with DRL on the signals work with no issue

Whatever I do I still get the parking light out error. Looks like I'll be going back to the Morimotos

Have you added the wires for the DRL circuit? If so, have you tried it without that wired up?

I have dedicated DRL wired and set up so I did not use the provided harness. I have had no issues using the dedicated DRL with the Gen 1 lights or the Morimotos. I'm guessing it's related to the switchbacks but I don't understand why it works fine with headlights off but throws the error when the headlights are on.

I have the dedicated circuit wire run from the BCM to the headlights and then dedicated DRL setup using AlfaOBD to change the settings to dedicated DRL along with all other pertinent LED settings

Can you disconnect the dedicated DRL wiring and try? Did you reuse your Gen1 DRL wires on the Gen2 or swap them? If you reused them are you sure the wiring didn't change?

I have the same problem with my retrofitted gen 1s. I used a combo of profile and another brand (don't remember off hand) that TRS had on discount, switchbacks and have wired in a dedicated drl's. When the drl's are on everything worked fine as soon as the parking lights are on and I used the signals I'd get a bulb out for the turns.

Did you add the dedicated drl feed yourself?

I know @Jimmy07 added his but he had swapped in the complete oem projector harness. He also has retrofitted gen 1s but he used some switchbacks off of Amazon and he is error free.

What setting did you guys set as your DRL. It may be your setting vs the way the midified street lights are wired
