Im having some problems with apple car play, I have the new 2019 RAM 1500.
It plays the music just fine when I plug it in. But when I try to go to the playlists/artists/songs menu on the screen it wont show anything. It allows me to select the playlist menu but it wont show any of my playlists. It forces me to close out of the music app and reboot it (on my phone) and then it will show my playlists, but only untill I choose a song and then the same problem. Any thoughts?

Can't help you... my Apple CarPlay doesn't work at all anymore!

When I plug in my phone, it buzzes like it usually does when plugged into power and charging. And, then, the phone screen goes dark, as per usual. However, it just wakes up and buzzes again every few seconds. The CarPlay app never opens. Doesn't matter what cable I use, if I unlock the phone, if I plug in before/after starting the truck...

I guess I finally need to plan a trip to the dealer.

I have had similar problems along with it not responding to touch. Dealer tried to update the radio and would not take it. They had the truck for a week. They finally got approval to replace the whole unit. Still waiting on that. Hopefully it fixes it!

Do you by chance block data over your cell phone service and / or block while roaming? Apple needs that enabled. Why, I have no idea but I have seen that issue with my son’s phone, turn data on, problem solved.

Yeah I still have the problem. The music is downloaded to my phone and works sometimes, but most of the time my playlists will not show. What can we do to fix this? Sad to see these problems only 3500km in on my $65,000 truck.

I have continued to have Car play issues with it not recognizing or hooking up...sometimes it doesn't recognize the phone on blue tooth. Been this way since january with no satisfaction at dealer. They keep saying about an update that is coming. Sometimes turning off vehicle and then back on works but not always. It shouldn't be that difficult to make it work as designed.

Is Siri enabled? Carplay requires Siri to be enabled to launch. Some updates / apps turn Siri off. What iPhone / IoS combination do you have?

I am starting to believe the problem is the USB media unit. If your phone buzzes every few seconds like mine does, I noticed the phone charging and not charging in sync with the phone vibrating. Mysterious...

I've seen a few mentions that Waze may be the problem. I deleted Waze, and turned off Spotify recommendations such as Equilizer, and Auto Normalization. No luck. Really couldn't wait to get this feature in my new Ram 1500, but it's unlistenalbe if that is a word.

Easier to stay with Apple, and just got the new 12. Car Play with Waze, and music is worse now than with the 7.

Hi Darlene,

I have a couple issues. First of all, I can rarely get my entire library of music to show up on my 8.4" screen in my 2020 RAM Big Horn. It really just shows the "Recently Downloaded." Occasionally I can get it to show my entire library after going back and forth to the Downloaded music, but most often that doesn't work.

My second issue is that the audio is good until I get to about 17 or so on the volume and then all the bass sounds like is getting sucked out. The volume goes down some every time there is a heavier bass note. I listen mostly to rock, so it's not the rumbling bass from a rap artist. As soon as I switch to the radio, the audio is much better. I know there are some issues with compression in audio, but those same files played fine in my Kia Optima. I'm using an iPhone X and iTunes and Apple Car Play. I'm pretty good about handling technical issues myself as I'm a musician and I handle a lot of audio issues, but this has me stumped!

Thanks,
Jeff

I've tried Spotify, and Itunes. They both lose volume after a few songs. The volume will go up and down. Waze won't link on first try. Have to unplug, and plug the phone in again for it to work.

My truck is new, and so is my iPhone 12 Pro, so I seriously doubt my dealer would even touch this one. They can't even here a loud rattle when the truck is started. LOL!
