I've looked around on a few sites. Does anyone know who sells Bilstein 5100 or 6112 fully assembled. I've delt with assembling 5100's before. Not looking forward to that again. I know I can buy the parts separate and take it to a shop to assemble it, don't have a lot of free time for that. I work a lot of hours and my free time is limited. I'll do the parts install myself.

I don't think anyone sells them assembled - in part because they don't come with the lower seat and Bilstein doesn't sell a lower seat for this application. It's frustrating, I was even trying to help Adventure Driven Design (4wd outfitter in AZ) a couple years ago with tracking down the necessary parts to sell assembled 5100's and it's just not practical because nobody sells a directly compatible spring seat a la carte.

It's possible to use ProComp 63065 collars as a lower spring seat, sort of... but they don't position the rim the same distance from the machined rings in the Bilstein shock as stock lower spring seats so you would have to do a lot of measuring and math to get the right ride height.

6112's would be easier since they come with springs and seats, the only hard part is making sure you select the correct ride height. Using one coil spring for multiple truck weights means that final ride height is as dependent on your truck's weight as it is on which ring you select.

Your best bet might be to just get standard not-assembled shocks and then buy a nicer spring compressor so that the assembly process is less of a pain in the dingus. For example this kind is considerably nicer than the scary rental tool at Autozone, makes the job pretty easy. Do not use power tools to compress them, just lubricate the threads before you get to work and you can dial down the springs pretty easily and with a lot less fear factor than the rental tools.

Or a set of fox 2.0's, icons, king......

Good call on the spring perch. I was searching for strut mounts and springs and forgot about the spring perch.

I don't do a lot of offroading in Florida... Just the occasional quick trip down a sandy road.

Apparently there is a new part number coming out for the 6112. I contacted shock surplus and they don't have any in stock. They're waiting on the new part number. Don't know if they'll be different in anyway though.

That's exactly it. I don't have time to take apart struts for pieces to add to another strut.

I’m waiting for the 6112 to come back in stock so I can order those pre assembled. Debating 2 or 2.4. Dropping back from 3” with my eibach setup.

I can do 6112's for about the same price with strut mount and preassembly. Some say 6112 is a better value. Nothing against Fox and your price is good too.
2.6 vs 2.0

I think 2.4 is where I plan to be. 3" has to be too much for cv angles...

2.6 vs 2.0 yet coil over vs strut. They are comparable for sure. I class them in the same category but a coil over is going to trump a strut any day of the week. That said everyone has their own opinions some like firm some like soft. It’s like mattress shopping LOL. Once your above the $500 there truly is no wrong choice

How well do the 2.0 coilovers play with the giant strut spacers used in 6 inch lifts?

I know shock surplus offered 6112s preassembled but they’re always sold out.

No issues on cv angle because it’s a leveling strut not a strut spacer. Been this way for a while including off-roading. No binding either. As stated it’s full lift is from struts using preload so none of the suspension can overextend like with strut spacers. Only reason I’m going back down in height is to get back some more down travel for off-roading. Still aligns perfectly as well.

Can't really see cv angles from that pic.

Probably better going with a strut/coilover for lifted applications. "giant" strut spacers are just filler for where suspension travel/comfort could be utilized. Not only that, most of the time bracket lifts are met with frustration after installation. I've never been a fan of bracket lifts.

According to an email I got from them a new part number is coming out. I'm leaning towards 6112's myself.
