Obviously new here. I just picked up a 2015 Ram 1500 quad cab, 5.7 Hemi, 4x4. I noticed when I was towing a trailer and SxS, guessing weight around 4K total, and when going downhill the tow haul light on the switch was on, light on dash was on, but not slowing. I tried manually shifting the transmission and noticed the RPM’s changing, but still no braking effect. Any ideas? I’ve tried the Internet , but haven’t been able to word it properly to find someone else with the issue. Tried numerous ways to write it as well.
Thanks

I find I get more engine braking if I turn off the MDS and lock out 8th gear with tow/haul on.

It rarely pops into 8th towing my travel trailer anyway and usually will downshift shortly after it does.

If you have the 8 speed trans, put in drive press - (you will see a 1) then + (all the way to 7), turn tow/haul on and I have been turning the traction control off too.

How many miles on your truck?

What gear ratio?

6 speed transmission, unknown gear ratio, I’ll get that info. 77K miles. It’s not that it doesn’t seem like it does much, it doesn’t appear to slow at all, like coasting in neutral, even when shifting to 2nd. I haven’t attempted to turn off MDS and try it that way.
