Avg cost for a DIY oil change and filter

Just wondering the cost with synthetic oil and filter. I'm sitting here at the dealership waiting to spend about 80$ bucks for pennzoil platinum which for all I know may be there bulk oil. Everytime I've ever tried it on other cars
I've owned I always had a leak somewhere.

My last oil change (DIY) it cost me about $55 for Mobil 1 synthetic filter and 7 quarts of Penzoil Platinum synthetic oil.

About $40 for a mopar filter and castrol edge. There is nothing wrong with spending the extra cash and saving yourself a little bit of work. But there are some simple things like that, that you can make sure are done right by doing it yourself.

I buy M1 when on Roll Back @ WM which happens alot... along with a Fram Ultra Filter.
I normally buy 3-5qt jugs when this happens. Averages out around $5.47 Qt.

{Average} cost is around $48 total for 1 oil change.

I always change my own oil! Never have had a leak...But I go slow and really think about what I am doing... I have done this since I was 16....

I installed a Fumoto Drain valve so no wrench is required. Takes about 20 min to change oil with very little clean up.

My trust factor in others changing my oil is right at 0%.

I have a hard problem with seeing oil pumped from a hose that is connected to a 55 gallon drum some where in back that I can not see and have no idea actually what is in it... If I was only to keep my autos for 2 to 4 years? I would not care.

I just changed mine with the penzoil 5 qt jug was 22 something by the time I got all 7 qts and filter I was In it for about 50-55 bucks. Single quarts were 8 probably should of just bought 2 5qt jugs but my next oil change will probably be casteroil edge, never been a big fan of penzoil, just went with it because it's th factory fill.

6 Quarts of Castrol is around $24 and the filter for the 3.6 runs $8 so I'll be around $32 for the oil change.
I have trouble paying someone to do an oil change for me it is an easy maintenance step that I do on all of my vehicles.

I work at one of the biggest oil change centers in this area of Texas, one of the perks is having access to pretty much anything at cost and minus labor cause I'm the laborer lol. I use mobil 1 520 and Baldwin filter, at my cost with discount is about 22 dollars, and I have access to our pits to have a comfortable area to check everything on bottom of my truck. Takes about 10 min for oil and filter swaps. Average price there with synthetic and a full service treatment and no air filter, about 75 plus tax. That's with all fluid topped off all gear boxes checks and topped off vacuuming, Windows cleaned, tires checked and aired, the works. I work on 18 wheelers, moved up from pickups, you should see some of my oil change receipts on those, 300 to 1000 bucks a truck, upwards of 4 thousand if there's a deck engine on the trailer

1st Oil Change in rotation:
(2) 5 qt. jugs of Mobil 1 = $49.94
(1) Fram ExtraGuard oil filter = $4.19
Total = $54.13 + 3.79 tax = $57.92

2nd Oil Change in rotation:
(1) 5 qt. jug of Mobil 1 = $24.97
(1) Fram EG oil filter = $4.19
Total = $29.16 + $2.04 tax = $31.20

Every other oil change only requires 1 of the 5 qt. jugs since I have enough left from the previous change. It's also how I remember on which oil change to rotate my tires.

So, overall, the total is really only $44.56 if you combine those and divide by 2.

And I have the satisfaction of knowing the job was done right.
