Back up camera

Just bought a used 2500 tradesman. I think it's got the u connect 5.0. It doesnt have the camera in the tail gate latch the hole is there for it I took the cover off to make sure it was just popped off, but no camera and no wires.

Does the u connect have the yellow rca plug so I can just buy a license plate camera don't want to spend about 100 for the oem camera.

After a quick Google could not find harness. Do you know of one. I'm taking to get a few recalls fixed tomorrow. I'm going to talk to them about it too

on my 2015 I had the dealer install the handle/camera,Wiring Harness and Flash the Truck computer ! Installed for 525$ . To me worth it, as you have to go to dealer anyway to get the computer flashed for the camera ! about 100 $ Avg. Please Update what you dealer says and price ! I have read as high as 1500 $ installed parts and labor and flashing !

I don't think you'd be able to add an aftermarket camera to the OE HU -- without using an expensive adaptor.

Nothat the forum is working for me again, went by the dealership for the recalls and asking about the camera. I'm going to end up buying the camera and harness from infotainment. Might be expensive but going to be worth it.

When I got there I was backing up and found out one of my distance sensors wasn't working and backed into a ramp that they put vehicles on by the road.

Oh ya, cost for camera and harness is 300 then go from there to get it flashed if needed.

The advantage of a dealer install of the OEM is they also warranty it ! To me with the cost of flashing, about 100$ + or - depending on dealer 500$ was my best option ,plus my grid lines move with the steering wheel ! What did your dealer want for the camera kit ,install and flashing ? Just curious ! Some I heard want 1000/1500 $ :O

Just a suggestion, maybe want to look around at a local junk yard or online for a salvage camera. Might save you some pennies and, if you already have the hole, easy to pop in.
