I literally just went through this. Had a nice flat spot on one of the OEM cab loabes where it wore it down. Picked the truck up Friday. I did the MDS delete, installed Hellcat lifters, and a Hellcat oil pump. I replaced the cam with a Comp Cams No Tune Required Non-MDS Camshaft from MMX. I bought all the parts from MMX, you only have to add 2 items to the cart (1 if you dont want to replace the oil pump, but it is worth it.) You do have to have a tuner though to disable MDS. I already had a diablosport i3, unlocked PCM, and Hemifever tune. Starting from scratch, I would go with an HPTuner MPVI3, HPTuner unlocked PCM, and a tune from MMX since its their spec cam, they can do the unlock as well, I think they can even just diable MDS in the PCM without a tune. They claim 30hp form this cam on a stock PCM, I dont know if its true, I didnt dyno, but it is noticeably more powerful on mine. My mods are in my signiture. This cam changed the sound slightly, not choppy, hard to describe, not louder, just different than before, maybe cleaner and deeper are the words, and just slightly so. Not that Hemifever is bad, they have been great, but I prefer the HPTuner and already have one that I use on other vehicles, its nice to standardize. If that doesnt matter to you, Hemifever is great, I run their 93 octane tune daily, and they confirmed the specs on this Comp Cam works really well with their standard tunes. Also, as stated, this cam works on a bone stock, locked pcm and does not require a tune, but does require disabling MDS. This comes with MDS solenoid plugs. My mechanic did not use them, he left the solenoids in place. He said they always break off and then its much more expensive to extract them and as long as they are not leaking, will do the same thing as the plugs. He did not have to buy anything else, the kit from MMX had everything needed. Lastly, I recommend doing the MDS delete, as the MDS lifters are typically what causes this failure, and I also recommend the Hellcat oil pump. OEM pump would have very low pressure on startup, and sit in the 40s at idle, 50s driving. The Hellcat pump instantly jumps into the 60s when cold, idles in the 40s-50s warm, and sits around 70psi driving, with as high as 76psi WOT. MMX was very helpful on the phone, I had parts the next day, and am very happy with the result. Quietest and smoothest my 6.4 has ever run. Cost was around $1800 for parts, and was about $3k in labor as they have to pull the heads off to get the lifters out.
I installed the following from MMX:
1)
MDS Delete + Cam Kit - MMP-MDSRAM-6.4TRK w/ Full Set of Hellcat Lifters and MDS Plugs and w/ Upgrade to MMX NO TUNE REQUIRED NON MDS 6.4 CAMSHAFT +30HP!!!
2)
Hellcat Oil Pump - MOP-5993AD
