Getting ready to do this myself and was curious as to the steps. Hopefully someone will reply to this.

Using AlfaOBD, save a log of your current BCM settings. Remove and replace the BCM. With the ignition off, read and save the log of the new BCM settings. Run both logs into a comparison app, such as WinMerge, and use AlfaOBD to change all the differences between settings to match your original BCM settings. Clear faults in all modules.
Or...set yourself up to make the swap at the dealer, then have them restore vehicle configuration to the new BCM.

In the case of the dealership, does it depend which one will do it? I thought that wouldn't be possible due to liability issues.
