I have two questions. I have a 2018 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi. I had aftermarket led taillights and never could get the parking light error message off. Switched back to halogens and still have message. Took it to the dealership today and they say it’s a bad body control module. Question 1: They wanted $600 for replacement. Is there any where that’s cheaper? Question 2: Does it have to be programmed if I buy one from a non-dealer? Thanks.

Tricky stuff, if it is a bad VISM then why is everything else working? I don't know anything abut it, can't be much help. It seams like it is an expensive part 200-300 bucks, and likely will need to be flashed. It appears like something you cant add-on to a truck that doesn't have it from factory, which probably makes dyi tricky.

When you switched tail lights back to stock did you remove what it took to install the LED tails? Resistors etc? Did you reset the battery at all?

Brand new BCM for a 2018 appears to be $152.95:

But, it does require programing/flashing which is difficult to do without a dealer's resources or high end private mechanic tools and subscriptions.

Or just take both cables off the battery. Once the cables are off just simply touch them together to discharge.

I reset the battery and nothing. Message still there. Beginning to think it is the BCM.
