Hello, has anyone recalibrated the rain sensor after a windshield replacement? I have a 2019 Limited 5th gen and the it has the error message for high beam and auto rain sensing require service. CDJR dealer said it needed a different windshield (I bought truck used from individual). Windshield was installed yesterday at local glass shop but they said they've never had to recalibrate a Ram before, they just always worked. I bought a Veepak bluetooth OBD, the security bypass, and alfaobd for Android. I found the light rain sensor calibrate option in BCM, but it give me the failed for undefined reason error when I start it.

If you didn't use oem windshield, I'd say you probably going to experience issues.

When I had my 14 replaced, I specifically requested an OEM windshield and ended up having to pay the difference between insurance and OEM price,

Does it make a difference yes, should it no.

I didn't have to re calibrate

Well the problem is the existing windshield wasn't oem and had triggered the code. The local glass company used the OEM windshield, but the message and error still exists because I'm assuming it needs to be calibrated. I bought the alfaobd stuff because I like to tinker coming from the forscan and Fords and was hoping I could recalibrate it instead of returning to the dealer

I’ve had 3 replacement windshields in my 22 Laramie. None have been OEM. Never had to recalibrate any sensors. My glass guy has always told me to keep the FOB at least 20’ away when he’s replaced the windshields in my driveway. He says the proximity of the FOB is what causes the sensors to lose calibration during glass replacement. Is he right? Don’t know for certain but three aftermarket windshields and no calibration issue so?????

Well whatever aftermarket windshield previous owner installed triggered the code. So doing some more research, some said it would recalibrate on its on when driving around. I had only driven it from glass shop to home since I don't drive the truck every day. So took it out on the highway on a straight road and within 5 min, it cleared up. Tested it to be sure the ACC worked and turned around to head home. Then the lights came back on for about 10 secs, then went off. I decided to turn around and drive it for about 10 miles. Lights stayed off all the way back home so assuming it's fixed.

Got a tiny chip a couple of weeks back. Going to the city for a couple of errands - any issue with the typical chip sealing - Fastbreak Glass or similar?

It depends on the truck year/trim level & features on whether it needs recal'd.

Had my 22 limited windshield replaced at Safelite last year (non Oem) and found out the rain sense didn't work correctly (ran a hose over windshield to test). One of their senior techs took a look at it and discovered the newer tech didn't remove the plastic from the rain sensor 'gel base' before they installed it.
He pulled out off, reinstalled it and recal'd the sensor and the forward collision/emergency braking sensor that wasn't't done previously). Good now

There are four or so different windshields for the truck. Glass installer that did mine ordered by vin, and it wasn't the right one. No clear spot for the rain sensor, so had to order the right one and do a reinstall. Then had to calibrate the DSM/headlight and AEB sensors.

Had my windshield replaced this past summer by Safelite. When i told him I wanted an OEM glass I detected a sigh of relief. He then explained that they've had a number of quality issues with non-OEM, including calibration problems. He seemed to indicate that the need to recalibrate on OEM was extremely rare.

I had to have a windshield replaced on my 2019 Ram. Safelite did the replacement and calibration, but I still had trouble with the rain sensor and headlight sensor and the ACC cruise control. I scrubbed the area over the camera really well with soapy water and then Windex. The problem cleared up. No codes and everything works great again. The windshield looked clean, but I believe it has some leftover glue from the shipping plastic interfering with the camera.

Had the one in my 24 Limited replaced by Safelite 18 months ago, no problems at all. Yes, they did use an OEM glass.
