Hey everyone I'm debateing a bed cover. I have a little one on the way and figure the back seat of the already tight quad cab is only going to get more cramped. I would love to get a crew cab but that really not a option at this time. I'm not looking to spend a fortune on a bed cover I would like to limit myself to $300. I know for that price range I'm looking at soft cover and I'm fine with that. i would like as much information as possible how easy is the tri fold to fully remove there are times that I use my entire bed. How do the roll up hold up after open close open close. Is there a reason not to get the soft covers are they just a waist of money? Any opnions welcome. Thanks in advance.

I was hoping to provide some useful feedback, but I do not know much that is out there for that price. FTR, I love my RollBak, but it is a hair over 300.... (a lot)

I have a Bakflip hard cover but I did quite a bit of research first, reading lots of tonneau threads etc.. and plenty of people seem happy with the TonnoPro Tri-fold. Believe it removes pretty easy with clips and comes in under $300. Did you see this thread?

http://www.ramforum.com/f41/tonneau_cover_under_300_a-46222/

tons of reviews at realtruck:
Dodge Ram 1500 Tonneau Covers - Dodge Ram Truck Bed Covers - 65 Styles

I did not thanks for the link. I did a search and every thing I found was on the nicer more expensive hard covers. I'm not sure how I missed it that is my price range. Thank you.

I just ordered a tonno pro low roll, got it for $245 shipped and it's the lowest profile cover.besides the rollX which is alot more money. Got mine for $245 and the rollX is $890... but would have gotten it for $790.

So that's $550 in my pocket, which let me get nerf bars, and looking at floor mats etc.

Mine.comes with 10yr warranty on vinyl cover, and limited lifetime on the frame.

personally i like roll ups because they still allow full access to the bed, with folding covers you sometimes have to remove them and i found i usually didn't have anywhere to put it so if i went shopping and happened to buy something bulky i'd have to go home and take it off then go back. rolls ups take a little more to install but it's only about an hour tops then if it's the velcro type it only takes a min to open and close.

Just purchased and installed the Toneau Pro Tri-Fold. Ordered it with free shipping for just under $300 and it was at my door in two days. Installed it in about 15 minutes no issues. There are two clamps that latch to the railing of your bed closest to your window and another set of two that attach closest to your tailgate for a total of 4 latches. Easy to unlatch when needed and wouldn't take more than 10 min to take it completley off. It is light enough that taking it off and on would not be an issue.

Again, very easy to install and seems like it is a very good quality, light weight toneau cover for a great price. Couldn't beat it. Definitely check it out man.

EDIT: Originally I was looking at roll ups but after this one I don't think I would ever use a roll up.

Thank you for all the opnions right now due to all of the good reviews I'm looking at the tonno pro tri fold. The reason in looking at the tri fold is they seem to have more structure to them with the 3 sections of frame, also it seems easier to open and close part way. A roll up seems like if you need access you have to roll it up and Velcro it just to keep it out of your way. I would say 95% of the time if I buy something bulky it won't take up the entire bed and I could take it off and strap it to what ever I bought.

Does all of that seem about right? I still want your opnions I appreciate all of them.

tri folds will probably last longer with that extra support. there's probably no difference between partly opening a roll up or tri fold tho. i have the mopar roll up and you just pull a release strap and roll it however far you want. when closing the velcro takes about 10 seconds to snug up. tri folds depending on the brand you usually have to release 2 clamps then fold and when closing latch the camps again which is probably the same amount of time as closing the roll up. either one if you have to ride with it open you have to fully fold/roll it and secure it to the straps at the front of the bed. there might be some fold ups that can secure part way but i've never seen them

if you don't use your bed a lot or at least don't have big things in the bed a lot a tri fold is the way to go. i prefer the roll up just because every time i put the dam tri fold on our silverado it's never on more then a week before we have to remove it for something so i went with the roll up on the ram

95% of the time I don't have anything in the bed. That 5% I do I use crap out of it. I normaly know when I'm going to buy or get big bulky thinks. There is time is random.

yeah it's not so bad then. my problem is on a farm there's always something i have to remove it for or i'll go shopping and just happen to spot something big i want which is kinda rare but still annoying. i do like the tri fold on the silverado, it only takes about 5 min to install or remove and it doesn't flap around in the wind as much as my roll up. we just got sick of putting in on and off every few days and now it sits in the barn lol

Yeah I could see that there is always something to move around on a farm. One day I'll have that issue one day, can't wait for a acerage.

Just installed a tonnopro trifold. less than 10 minutes to completely install. Had an access lorado on the last truck. So far I am pretty happy for $249! We will have to see how it holds up. The access was still like new after 3 years. I was not fond of the rollup feature. The trifold is much more convenient to open in my opinion...drawback is you lose some bed access unless removed which takes only a few minutes anyway.

That's what I figured you still get 4 feet of your bed very easy flip flip click click done. The roll up did seem like a good idea because you get the entire bed, but seems like more of a hassle to roll it all the way up everytime you want to open it. Plus I would imagine you would have to get into the bed to roll it up by yourself or take 2 one on each side of the truck.
