Thanks. Alfa needs a search bar lol

It does, well kinda. Open your BCM config in your Google Drive and click ctrl+f together. Then search for the feature you want. Make note of the location then search in Alfa under that category.

I couldn't find it. That should show up not connected also, shouldn't it?

Not all will show when not connected. CSMs for one will not as well as others.

Weird. I just went and checked and you're right. I thought every option would appear even if you aren't connected.

I believe it reads your BCM for compatibility of certain settings?

Possibly or those settings are default for a certain year and then adds reading your bcm. I don't remember now but when I was connected it was showing my2018

I had the dealer flash the sales code and the switch is now working. Have to go through the before and after logs and see what I can find. Kinda sucked because it erased all my changes from Alfa, but will be worth it if I can find anything. I’ll keep ya posted!
How much did they charge?

Yeah I was hoping to find something for the bed switch for the OP but I wasn’t able to see anything listed.

Are we sure it isn't just something different in the wiring between kits that came with a switch and kits that did not? Like it is spliced somewhere along the way inside the cover for the switch or has this already been covered before?

Gotcha. I don't think there is anything directly related to the switch itself. That's why I was wondering if you had to splice into the existing wiring like the directions show if you would still have to add the sales code to activate the lights.

I don't think it's been covered. I wonder if it works like a typical 3 way switch. I've never hit the button while the lights were activated by the cargo switch button. I've only turned them on one way or the other. Once alldatadiy updates and includes the 2018 model year hopefully they will have the switch diagram.

Purely speculating but I would think it would act like a 3-way. Push cargo switch lights turn on, push bed switch lights turn off.

I'm not sure if this is the connector for the switch but it's all I can find right now

If I hadn't already purchased and installed a harness that I got from someone here, I would have bought the newer version to look at the wiring. My connectors are of course different as I replaced the OEM with my own to accommodate my aftermarket bed lights.

I think at this point, I'm just going to tie in with the cargo switch and put a momentary weatherproof switch at the back of the bed.

It’s just a regular 2 wire switch- signal/ground

BNi20wu.jpg

We won’t be able to see the difference because the switch itself will be a separate line item in CBC I/O switch usages that wasn’t even thought of on the 2017 BCMs.

I have a 2018 2500 tradesman and all my wiring was there, just had to plug the switch and each light in inder the bed. Program it with Alfa and the lights work on the cargo switch but not the bed switch. I have no idea if there is a difference if you get the kit with wiring included. I was kinda hoping if I had the dealer add the sales code we would be able to find something in Alfa but I suppose that the bed switch just doesn’t exist at all in the my2017 since it was a 2018 option.
