Has anyone installed under the rail bed lighting to their 4th Gen? I'm curious what you tied into for a power source. Ideally I'd like to tie into the bed light in the 3rd brake light housing but know it will be a pain. I believe that's all in the headliner in the cab? Is there any other good sources near the tail lights?

So it didn't allow you to use the bed light system at all? That's a bummer. Ideally that's when you want them on. I may just tie into something in the rear end and mount a switch back by the tailgate then. Is there any constant power source at the rear of these trucks?

I didn't install the under rail bed lighting, but I did install an LED light fixture with a built in switch. I tapped the 12V constant from the trailer wiring under the bed.

I did this because I want the light to see what I'm doing back there at night. I wanted it to be convenient and this was the best way for me. No going to the cab to turn it on or off and no keys required.

Works great when we're camping and I need to frequently get stuff out of the bed.

It allows me to use my bed lighting. The bed lighting is tied to my cargo lamp.

I added one of these:

Portable Worklight & Flashlight - 27 LED Light Flashlight

There's no wires to run. It has a magnet or hook for install. You can add 2 if you wish. They come in many colors -- at many locations. I initially bought the blue one, but since found black at Walgreens (blue clashed with my truck :) ). They are pretty bright, and double as a flashlight on one end. I have several around the house/garage. They are nice to use as a quick trouble light.

I've seen those around and been wanting to pick some up. I just hate buying batteries, lol.

There's enough small holes at the front of the box,i ran my wiring out through them ,under the cab and tied into the fuse box, then mounted a small rocker switch at the back of the box .
I ran my wires inside vinyl tubing to protect them from the elements under the cab,and just zip tied them to existing brackets.
Maybe not the best way,but simple and easy.
