Gonna add bed lights to the truck. Are the factory ones worth the $100 or is it better to go aftermarket?

Normally I would say no because I could add my own for less, but they were already on my truck when I got it. That being said, if I were to order a truck, I would spend the $100 for the factory option. They are bright enough, they have a waterproof switch integrated into the side of the bed, they are also controlled by the cargo light switch in the cab.
Very nice add on worth the $100.

When I went through this same decision, this was my thinking: The factory bed lights sit in the back of the bed and shine toward the cab, if there's anything in your bed blocking that light, you can't see anything past it. So I liked the LED rope bed lights because you get continuous light through the length of the bed. So you have to have a ton of stuff in your bed in order to obstruct that light. So I chose the aftermarket lights mainly for that reason and you get the added bonus of them being 1/3 the cost.

I would say yes they are worth it. While these are definitely not a s bright as the strip lights others have installed, I don't have to worry about the issues associated with those.

It's on the driver's side, directly under the bed light. When I go out to my truck later, I'll snap a pic and post it here

I’ve owned my truck a little over two years, never noticed. I’ll have to go look! I knew about the switch in the cab.

You don’t have it. The switch showed up on the 2018s.

The picture is not that good but they are really bright. 10x 3Leds 2835 samsung modules for side attached to a aluminum strip with zip ties that you can find in home depot and connected to the cargo lights wiring. Less than 30$aae8d9cc622816d79cda141ac1d66d3d.jpg

Where did you get the lights at?
I was thinking about getting 2 sets of the ones at Walmart for like $20/set I think there's 8 per box and another 7-8 for a pin switch.

I added the amazon rope lights to mine about 18 months ago. I have mine wired into the OEM bed lights, no codes or bulb out messages whatsoever, easy $20 mod.

Looks nice. has me thinking of doing a rope light under my Long *** tonneau cover. But since I have no bed lighting installed, prob have to do some type of switch and wire for power into 7 pin somehow, LOL...There is a lil "LED" light built into the cover (behind strap), but only a basic lil 3 led light. But I do luv the full cover, which is body paint matched and pretty dang water tight. But of course, everybody options out their truck to suit their needs, LOL. Why I got a non-slip bed mat in there also...
