Found this hack on another forum, and I went out and bought 2 Husky bins from Home Depot and a racheting cargo bar to keep them there. Cost was $40 and with a tonneau cover on, it's like having a small trunk in the back of your bed! And you can remove the bins and the bar in seconds if needed.

I use plastic laundry baskets with bungee cords. Cheap and stackable. Also have 1/4" all-thread bent at one end for hooking suit cases or baskets.

Re Post:

2018 RAM Sport, 5’7” box with spray on factory bed liner. My board is 67” long and looks like 2x8 but measures out to 2x7 (go figure). If I had to do it over again I’d go 67 1/16” or 67 1/8” to get a snug/ tighter fit to the box sides. That said I do not hear the board banging around while I drive and it’s easy to lift out. I contoured the lower corners to fit the box contours, but forget what I used as a template for the radius,...maybe the lid off a paint can or something similar ? No rocket science used in the production of this thing at all.

Just back from Home Depot with the bins and bar. Fits like a glove.

I don't know how to do it, but someone should repost to "Best Ideas Under $100"

FYI: the 2x8 I pictured above works great for little cost and a bit of crafting, but...... Beware! The Crew Cab box is wider than it is long. My cargo board will not fit in the box from front to rear with the tailgate closed ( missed it by that much > < ) unless I angle it some degrees across the box in a diagonal fashion.

I saw the admonishment from the mod's on an earlier post after I posted my misguided post so I had to change it. CYA

I cut a piece of 2x8 lumber to fit in the slots on sides of bed. Works perfectly for groceries, snow brush, washer fluid jugs, etc. Cheap and easily removed if needed all the bed.
I did the same. Except with a 2x10. Only part I don’t like is that I cut it a tad short so it rattles a little while I drive.

Already been mentioned, but, I use a 4' bungee, milk crates and a cooler or 2, and run the bungee through the handles. Coolers are a necessity if picking up frozen food or refrigerated items.

Don’t stop for a few beers on the way home...and ditch the coolers!
