Hey everyone... I have been pondering something lately, and was wanting to get some opinions on if my idea would even be doable...lol

I have the 04 SLT single cab SWB 5.7 2wd... Now my idea is.. Would it be possible at all, to swap a 88-92 Chevy step-side bed onto my 04 Ram?

I know it's a shot in the dark, but I think it would look pretty cool to have a step-side bed Dodge Ram...lol

It can absolutely be done. Given enough time, money, cutoff wheels, sheet metal, welding supplies, bondo, paint, time, and money. Be sure to post pictures of the progress. I've always been a fan of step side beds. Think about using a 1978-79 Li'l Red Express step side bed.

Oh that does look nice, and I know the bolt holes won't line up, and a few other things would have to be adjusted to insure proper angle, etc...
I am thinking the bed from an 88-92 Silverado.. would be a nice choice for a swap like this...
Does anyone have a different idea for what year, make, and model would be a nice fitment choice as a different option?

Most likely because everyone thought the same thing: :wtg::gayflag:

So how is a lady asking why no one responded to her truck question considered ***? Just because you don't want to think outside the box, doesn't mean others can't...lol I think the step-side bed would add a very unique look to our trucks, for the rarity of it, by offering a few different options we didn't have before, and as a way of personalizing your vehicle how you want to... :devilfinger:

Don't I get some brownie points for not asking about a pointless 10ft lift kit, 26in rims, and rubber band tires?

I am curious why chevy offered them in most of their models, why ugly ford trucks got a something resembling a step side (lol), and our beautiful trucks got overlooked by the design team...lol

Good response, I like you lol. Keep in mind those might be the responses you get suggesting fitting shabby parts to a perfectly good Ram. Most probable reason we got left out of step sides from the factory is cost and ease of construction, not to mention it severely limits bed size. Thing with fitting another makes bed is nothing lines up, not just mounts but body lines, etc; thse pics above illustrate the point quite eloquently. They look like ass. From what I've found, there were aftermarket (fiberglass options) for 2nd gens. While these may not be a straight bolt on, there is a much better chance of the body lines lining up and not looking like a bag of smashed assholes. The pics below are of a 2001 the guy claims has a complete fiberglass bed (so aftermarket).

Never seen anything for a 3rd gen. Hell I even looked at Mr Norm's page to see if any of his LRT 4th gen conversions had one; nothing. I think another thing might be they just fell out of fashion, I mean how many new trucks have them nowadays? Anyhoo, try hitting this guy up he claims to have one: https://stlouis.craigslist.org/pts/d/dodge-ram-short-beds/6565541827.html

Please don’t do this...just because it’s outside the box doesn’t make it a good idea...step side beds look terrible. You asked for opinions...

I don't use my truck to haul much stuff, I usually just tow cars with it... So why not spice things up, and go nostalgic with a step-side bed. I guess I could sell my beloved dodge and go buy a Chevy step-side, but then I would lose the HP, Torque, and driving a bada** truck.

I love my Ram... Just thinking of makeover ideas, and most the aftermarket options for our trucks look horrible. I mean they are great for the guys that like that whole Zombie Apocalypse redneck look, but I am after a West Coast style.

At least I didn't ask how to mod Mustang taillights in the bed....roflmao
I am a girl that drives a wicked HEMI, and want to do all I can to unleash the beast that I know my "Molly" is. I want people to see her and be like "DAMNNNN... That's a bad a** truck." Then watch their jaws hit the floor when they see a chick is the one driving it...lol

So hater's gonna hate... That's part of the game, but it's my truck and my story... At least it's built, not Bought!!!!
