Dad brought his 08 1500 2wd in the other day to get his brakes done. Got a call back saying his brakes are fine, he has a bent driveshaft.
Truck only has 65,000 miles and somehow we don't have the warranty on it anymore. Apparently the Dodge dealership screwed us out of the warranty or something.
Got referred to a place that specializes in driveshaft repair. Has anyone done this repair on theirs?
Dad sees this as an excuse to sell his and buy a 2500, which I'm not going to argue with. But if it's something we could do ourselves without having to spend a ton of money on it, that might be the way to go.
Thanks everyone

Would be way cheaper to just buy a used one and put it in. I'm assuming the truck went in for a vibration while driving?

Heard a grinding sound while using brakes. They said the rotors were warped, forgot to add that in the original post. Got that fixed and during the test drive afterward they realized something else was wrong. Driving the truck with no a/c or radio, you can barely even hear anything or let alone feel anything. Sounds more like road noise than anything.

only true way to tell if your drives fat is bent is to do a runout test on it. It may be bent, it also might be sightly out of balance. It takes some pretty specialized equipment to test, but shouldn't be to expensive if you took it to a driveline shop. It's what they do..lol

When you have a bent drive shaft, even slightly you'll know. I'd have them look at other things like uneven wear on the tires, balance, alignment and wheel bearings.

Not recommended for everyone, but I'd jack up the rear axle using a floor jack on the pumpkin and run it up to about 50mph to see what shakes.

Been a while but finally got around to having it checked. It is not the driveshaft it is the rear diff. We recently had everything in this replaced by dodge themselves so apparently they screwed something up. No surprise there, their service department sucks.
Since the truck has no warranty we're in the battle of fixing it and potentially having that again or other problems come up, or trading it in and buying a new truck. This 08 has had way too many problems for only 65,000 miles
