I bent my front sway bar, how did that is not important. Anywho my sway bar link bushes kept on getting destroyed. I didn't feel like buy a new one for $200 which is about the going rate from what i saw. so my solution i just took it off completely. The truck handles just fine without it. it can be a little twitchy at freeway speeds but nothing to write home about.

How did you bend it? I would not recommend driving it without a sway bar.... if you cant get it new have you looked at junk yards?

There are actually a few guys here that have removed the front sway bar and left it off. I haven't tried it myself though.

I removed mine for a few weeks. With the bilstein 5100 valving the truck actually rode well. Obvious is the truck definitely leans more in corners but I never felt like the truck was uncontrollable. I’ve been tossing around the idea of a rock crawler front sway bar from a jeep so it’s lighter. It would have to be custom mounted obviously. Honestly the truck felt more fun to drive without the front sway bar. A lot of people mention under steer without the front sway bar during high speed evasive maneuvers

I always take vehicle safety advice from people named crasher
I had a front sway bar end break off on a previous vehicle. Other than the clang going over bumps from the sway bar hitting the mounting link you couldn't tell the bar was non-functional.
I did replace the sway bar with an upgraded solid heavy duty version instead of the hollow factory one. Took about three weeks to get shipped to the house.
A non-functional sway bar isn't something you need to stop driving a vehicle for.

Ah, one of my pet peeves... :) Most people, unless they have racing experience, don't realize that the "sway bar" (bad name IMO) controls the oversteer/understeer behavior of the vehicle. That's why many race cars have adjustable rear anti-roll bars.

Removing the front anti-roll bar makes the vehicle extremely tail-happy. It might drive fine in normal driving on dry roads but don't be surprised if it wants to swap ends in the rain or during an emergency maneuver. Not recommended.

You get into an accident, and the ambulance chaser finds out that you removed a suspension component, you’ll be paying for that for a long, long time.

I don't think this is true.

Does this apply to modified suspension across the board? Lifted, lowered, swapped out control arms, swaybars etc?

We would all be screwed if that was the case.

What about those guys running 12+ inch lifted trucks with solid axle swaps and 40 inch tires running down the highway?

Not trying to be argumentative, just never really thought about it.

The front sway bar on my 4th gen was actually broken for quite some time and I never knew it. The sway bar is a hollow tube that's pinched on the ends and right where it was pinched it rusted and eventually broke. I just dont know how long I was driving around with it broken. I found a good used one at a local salvage yard for a quarter of the price of a new one. My point with this is, it's on the truck for a reason obviously but, I was driving around with it broken for who knows how long and it drove fine so taking it off shouldn't make a huge difference

Fell off on the crash…..

I’m really sure the junkyard lawyer won’t check his social media. Lawyers just never do that.

Yeah, good luck with that.

how much is it bent?
This might be a place for a bubba-fix if it's only off and inch: Take one of your end links, cut and re-weld it (longer or shorter) ..as needed, to match the anti-sway bar arms as the truck sits level. Should be about a half hour job.

If you have a welder, or access to one, it won't cost you a dime. If it's 'off' much more than that, get a used one at a salvage yard.

Two weeks ago when a deer jumped out in front of me on the hwy and I had to make a HARD L-R-L maneuver, I was glad it handled the way it did. I was pretty impressed. Yeah, normal every day non-severe driving they don't come into play as much. But when you need the vehicle to feel safe and predictible, you'll be glad you had it.

Anyway, good luck however you deal with it

If ram thought they could save a few dollars and pounds, this would not be on these trucks . They do serve a purpose ,believe it or don’t.

:Big Laugh: I always figure anyone who'd drive around without the front sway bar and not be bothered by it is the same kind of person who has a bunch of random stuff sitting on their dashboard that never falls off, who's accustomed to being honked at a few seconds after the light turns green, likes long slow drives in the left lane (turn signal optional) and takes a very relaxed approach to putting electrical tape over warning indicators instead of actually fixing the thing that turned them on.

Wow you gathered all of that by someone removing their swaybar?

You sure seem to have strong opinions about everything.
