I ordered the Bilstein 5160's today. I haven't decided what to do upfront just yet. However, I am finding out that I like my truck to ride a little firmer than OEM. I keep my AirLift 1000HD bags at about 20psi. I'm thinking the Bil's will be a step in that direction. I'm also hoping it improves handling while towing just a bit. The 5160's are a bit more than the 5100's but look super cool with the remote resevoir's!

For the rear I did the TufTruck 1211s with the Bilstein 5100s and it's a great combo, stiffened up the back but still great as a daily driver.

I have OEM HD shocks as per my build specs on my 18 and like them fine. Not super cushy and not super harsh. Maybe check your build sheet and see what Mopar shocks are on it currently and go from there.
Also talk to Nick from Got Exhaust I think. Sponsor on here he recommended Eibachs. Little more than Bilsteins but supposed to be a better ride. Again opinions so at the end of the day it’s up to you.

Absolutely LOVE my Falcon Shocks. Did the Readilift upper control arms at the same time and would recommend them to anyone. Ride amazing (better than stock ride quality), handle better, unbelievable improvement over bumps and controlling rebound instead of bouncing.

FYI - no experience with any other shocks on a ram, but I did have Bilstein 5100's on my previous f150 and would not do them again. Not a significant enough improvement.

Bilsteins on mine - never again and I don't recommend them, my personal opinion.
Yep, Bilsteins. Have had them on my 2004, 2010, 2016 R/T, and 2017 Sprot R/T. I prefer the 4600 over the 5100 for actual ride quality and handling. Yes, 51's are adjustable but seems hard to hit the 'right' mark with them, maybe just me. cheers

Best bang for the buck would Bilstein 5100s. Huge improvement in ride quality over the stock shocks.
another vote for the Bilstein 5100s. major difference in ride quality on my 2010 sport. I didn`t use the grooves in the shock to level the front end. had HBS 2`leveling kit and just installed the shocks at stock height setting. didn`t ever take the truck off road. ride quality with the 5100`s and BFG KO2`s (stock size) were a great combo.

the 5100's are awesome (to me), best mod I have done, my ride is smoother, when you hit a dip or a speedbump, after the initial hit, the secondary is minimized and you are not bouncing around, the truck feels more planted, there is a small stretch of freeway that curves, stock, the tires would "chatter" now it's way better

I have 130K miles on stock shocks!
I’m surprised you want new shocks so soon..
But mostly solo commute, motorcycle in the back on occasion, and towing my 3k lbs boat on weekends...

Im wanting to replace the shocks on my Ram this year...mine seem a bit harsh when Im hitting small bumps, sunken manhole covers, etc...

Daily commuter, with a little dirt road use in the summer. Nothing crazy as far as off-road stuff.

2.5 level with rear bags.

70k miles.

Thanks for any input.
Bilstein 4600 are by far the best, even over 5100s.

I did eibach on my 2104 at 70k. Couldnt believe how bad the stock struts were once I had them out. Eibachs are amazing. Front are height adjustable and rears with take up to 2" lift. Kept the stock springs on both ends. Daily drives great and no front end bounce when towing my 5k lbs travel trailer.

I love my Bilstein 5100 but I also want to drive a pickup. Put 1211 tuftruck springs under the rear too.

keep your shocks the same, all four corners.

if you want smooth ride, go with Monroe or KYB, non air shocks.

I had 5100s on my 4 door wrangler. Very harsh on the small bumps but soaked up the bigger dips and speed bumps very nicely. Unless I was going to do a fair amount of 4 wheeling I would opt for a different shock on my street queen Ram 1500.

What kind of level kit did you use? I have the Carli kit and mine came with fox on all four corners. if you replaced the front springs for the level, it would be best if you got shocks from the same place. They are valved to work with certain springs. Thuren is the same way, they sell there shocks in combination with there springs for best results. Bilstein 5100 are stiffer than some but they are more of an offroad shock, Bilstein 4600 are a little softer and built more for towing. So I have been told and from my experience the info on Bilsteins seems correct.

On my 2014 I took the 5100s off the rear as a 2x4 would of done as good of a job for the ride . I reinstalled the stock shock. The new 5100s still stand in the corner collecting dust . I am shopping for new rears for my 17 now and will probably just use a 2.0 Fox as I liked them on the back of a Tacoma I toy'd with a couple years ago . The dime statement from Jeep Forum in post #12 was me .

Seems like suspension is about as much a dead end conversation as oil or tires, everyone is right about what they use and anything else is crap!
