Good day,
I have a serious question about cam/converter as I got the green light from the Mrs and thank God, A win in a law suit!
So it’s cam time. I have sought out Texas Speed’s stage 3 cam with the Circle D converter that they sell with the cam. I have the 5 speed trans that has been rebuilt recently.
I have the 456 gears finally going in after a huge ball drop by the company who I bought them from back in August (sent the same 3:55 gears I have in my truck).

The price I have on the cam/converter combo shipped is roughly $3400 Canuck.

So, is this a good price for us Canadian boys, and, how is this Texas Speed stage 3 cam in our trucks?

I have been looking at Moe’s as well, just no prices yet.

Thanks for any info as I know there is a lot of Individuals that have purchased cams/converters on the forum.

Thanks for any info!

If that includes the convertor ,that's a hell'va good price. What all comes with the cam, cause you're gonna want new valve springs and probably better pushrods for a Stage 3 cam.BTW that's a pretty big cam for a big assed 4X4,even with convertor and gears, have you gave any thought to their Stage 2 cam.The Stage 3 is going to want to have the **** revved out of it to make power, and it'll be biased towards the top of the rpm scale.I have a buddy with a Stage 2 in a light weight 2X4 regular cab with 3.92's and a 3600 rpm convertor ,and it works good, has enough bottem end torque with the convertor the little truck is pretty impressive, he's full bolt-on and weighes 4400 lbs in track mode. Also have a buddy running the Stage 4 in a 2X4 regular cab R/T with the 8 speed and a 4,000 stall convertor, and it needs a 150 shot of nitrous to get it's ass moving, but once the truck is wound out,it goes like a bat outta hell. Personally i think you're making a young guys mistake on the cam Lyle, your truck isn't exactly light and you need torque down low, more then you need high rpm power. If it was me,i wouldn't go any bigger then the Stage 2 cam,and it might even be a bit big for your application.Track down John Smith of Texas Speed,he's on most of the High Performance Ram pages on Facebook, and is usually pretty good at answering questions even on a week-end,he's not on here as far as i know, but he's pretty easy to find on the facebook pages

This is what I was wanting to hear. I did speak with a couple of guys out of Texas Speed. They did offer me stage 1 without converter, but said there is the stage 3 with converter. I guess my best would to go stage 1 with converter as I hate this 5 speed. Yes this price included the converter. With stage 1 and no converter was around $2000. They said they have everything to do the install which includes valves, push rods and such. Thanks for the info and I have no doubt in what your telling me given your knowledge. Thanks!

Ask them what lifters they're putting in the package for that price Lyle. There's been a few instances where guys were getting cheap lifters and not the Hellcat lifters they were thinking they were getting. It might even be worth your time to bypass their lifters if they aren't the legit Hellcat/upgraded factory lifters and access them yourself through your local dealer. It'll be more money ,but if they aren't the factory good lifters,it's just a matter of time, before the cheap lifters eat the cam. There's been a few guys who've had issues with the lifters they've received from TSP,including my buddy with the stage 2 cam. He's on his second set of lifters, and this time around,he sourced them himself through his local Dodge dealer in Edmonton. He was lucky as he caught the issue before it hurt his stage 2 cam,so all he had to replace were the lifters/gaskets/fluids etc.

Moe's has a sterling reputation and has competitive prices on all his parts. He is also a walking encyclopedia when it comes to these trucks and he is great about sharing information. It's easier to text or e-mail him if you want information.
