big difference in trucks

the quick lowdown I had a 16 ram express quad cab 4x2 3;27 with stock size tires mods were s&b intake 180 tstat, i3 with Hemi fever and Jay Greene tune (tried both) Moes mufflex the truck ran very strong but ended trading for a sedan for a new job. Well now 1 year later just picked up a 14 ram sport crew cab with 3;27 and 4x4 .
What a difference in performance I can feel the weight . Now it is stock except for a Carvan progressive exhaust . the 2 trucks are not the same my 16 justabout ran around everything on the road but this 14 sport is notably slower. I just ordered a Vararam intake from Moes but feel that it will not be as fast with the same mods . any input?

before I traded in the 16 I took all the performance goodies off and drove it stock again plus I drove almost 50k miles with the tune and other stuff . To me this truck just feels slugish the engine is pumping but the gear seems to hurt it more that it did with the quad cab . But we will see I will start doing some mods as what is the worst thing that can happen lol

3;27 on both but feel the crew cab could use the 3;92 for sure but since this one is 4x4 not sure if I have to change the front diff also and if there are others things I muso to make it work but this option looks i will not do it due to the complexity and cost

Same tranny in each as well? Before i bought my ram last year, 18 crew cab with 3.92s and 8 speed, i had test drove a quad cab that was 3.27 and 6 speed. Wasnt even a close comparison between the 2.

i went from stock qc 16 with 392 rear to a 14 crew with 327, 4" lift and 35x12.5 tires. both were 4x4. this truck is slow as hell. im doing all maintenance stuff first. but cant wait for a custom tune from JG.

Not trying to be a jerk here, but just pointing it out so that others that come on here to gain knowledge know, there is no 3.27 gear ratio offered for our trucks. Its 3.21, 3.55, or 3.92 (from the factory), depending on drivetrain and options.

But yes, same question as mason mank, same tranny? 6-speed vs 8-speed makes a world of difference.

I appreciate you making that clarification. Im sure everyone was thinking the same and didnt pick up on it(i didnt) its always irked me when people say things like that and have misinformation lol. Like people who think an ls1 chevy is 350 or 6.0 is 400. Seems like small details bit there is a big difference in the numbers.

gears are 3.92.
I get great mileage as well. took a 400mile trip and city runaround , average was 12 liter/ 100KM

Only thing that bugs me is the lady in Nav nagging me about the speed limit, and wife same damn thing, guess I can turn one off? other ,not.( but I am mainly deaf anyway)

You must change the front differential gears if you change the back ones. They must match, if you ever put it in four wheel drive. Otherwise you will destroy your transfer case.

Most of them won't be able to relate to the Imperial gallon either,lol. The US gallon is basically 20% smaller then the Imperial gallon,and btw 12L/100 is not 30mpg Imperial,it's closer to 23.5 Imperial mpg and roughly 19.6 mpg with the smaller Yankee gallon. In your settings you should have both the Imperial and US mpg measurements,being as how you're on a basically US site,it might be wise to use the US gallon if you're going to use a MPG number

How does OP have a Sport with 3.27 gearing?

3.27 gearing doesn't exist in the Ram world, and Sport's come with 3.92's stock.

And 4x2's are always going to feel snappier than 4x4, in stock form that is. There's a considerable weight difference.
