What kind of settlement does everyone get after a Bilstein installation?
i.e. Set at 2.8", settled at 2.6"... something to that effect.

Just looking for a general comparison.
Thx.

Never got exact measurements but when I set at max I had a noticeable rake after a few weeks, I put a 6inch lift on and set the bilstein down to 1.4 and it has a huge rake again. I'll be setting back at Max here soon

Will resetting it up higher change the dynamics of the alignment? I just did a 6" with bilsteins and I'm thinking I wanna move one ring up to get rid of the rake.

Yes you will need another alignment. It won't be that far out but you don't want to wear your tires prematurely.
I set my bilsteins at 2.8" when I bought my truck. Over a year later and with the lift installed, they have settled about half an inch.

Thor, do you have the lift spacer on top of the bilstens? Would you mind taking a pic?

Yes I have the rough country spacer, it measured 5.3" before installing and gave a full 6" of lift. Ill snap you a pic tomorrow.

To clarify my post earlier, I don't think my bilsteins dropped a full half inch, I think I just never got the full 2.8" in the first place. Didn't want to confuse anyone. ..

I want to make sure I understand, are you sitting level now? Did you add anything to the rear lift? Thanks for your help on this.

Never mind the dumb question about the added lift in the rear, going through your build link now. I'm trying to figure out if I but the bilstein's what I should set them to so I'm level with my 6 inch lift.

Assuming you have the BDS 5" rear kit (not the 3"), maxing the Bilsteins will level you within half an inch. Dont use preloaded spacers that came with the kit.
I had a 6" BDS with 5" rear kit on my last truck. Installed Bilsteins at 2.1" and I still had 1" rake so that's why I say to max them out...

Ok, not sure what you mean by "preloaded spacers". From BDS or Bilstein?

I just measured mine and the front is 2 and a quater lower then the rear. That is before the added weight of the brush guard.

From BDS. After I bought my bds lift in 2010, some of their lifts started coming with a preloaded spacer that went on your shock spring to help level it. It did basically the same thing as the bilsteins but doesn't ride as good. If you don't have them don't worry about it. If you have over a 2" rake now then sounds like the bilsteins will level your truck.

This is what mine looks like now, I have the spacer. I will take it out hopefully I still get close to level. The BDS install guide says it is only a 5/8 spacer.

Yup that black spacer in the springs underneath the strut spacer definitely looks like a preloaded spacer from bds. Remove that preloaded one when installing the maxed bilsteins
