Hey guys, I'm new to ram forum and excited to be apart of the community. I have a couple questions regarding bilstein shocks and cv joint issues. I just installed front and rear bilsteins on my 2014 spot 4x4. The fronts are set to max and the truck looks great. I had a steering allignment and everything runs smooth with no issues. It sits a little nose high but that doesn't bother me too much. After reading many posts about potential UCA and cv joint problems, I'm wondering if anyone has actually had to replace their cv joint. The mechanic at the dealer said my UCAs are fine and that I don't have to worry, so that's good. I'm just worried about potential cv joint wear. I drive highway and small commutes hear and there, no crazy off-roading or anything...yet. Any experiences or thoughts would be great thanks.

I replaced two on my F150 due to a levelling kit that was a tad too much. Tore them up pretty quickly. 2.5". The CV axle should run at or as close to parallel with the ground as possible. That being said, I have a 1.75" in the Ram and I can barely see any geometry changes. If you hear it bind, even once, it's too much lift.

I do (or used to do) mild offroad, but not much. And not a hack on the Ram because I love mine, but the CV and front diff on the F150 was much stouter. So, bad angles mean bad wear- quickly. If you're really paranoid, see if RCV makes a set for the Ram. I ended up biting the bullet and spending 3G on them for the F150 and they were near bomb proof with no binding ever.

Every truck responds in a different manner. I put a 2.5" hbs level on mine and the truck went through 2 pairs of cv joints in 7 months. Luckily my dealer replaced them under warranty each time. Took the kit out.

Great guys, thanks for your input. So far everything is smooth with no binding. I went to the dealer today and spoke to a couple mechanics. They informed me that the cv angle will not be an issue and its the transmission angle I should be worried about when trekking into bigger lifts. Ill check out the RCV thanks smurfs_of_war. You must have been pretty upset HemiRoar with the CV issue. Luckily warranty had your back
