Mine came factory black inside except the projector shrouds which were chrome. I hated the chrome so baked em open and painted the shrouds. Added amber halos as well. Didn't touch the reflectors behind the high beams or the signal light lenses tho. Wanted to keep it legal.

Mine came from TRS. JJ sells some as well, or at least he used to, just not in red.

Depending how you want it so sit, you can use 90mm like Pigeonman did ^^^, or 100mm. The 90 sit right on the inside lip of the shroud, and the 100 sit directly over it. Both look great IMO

I got mine from The Retrofit Source. They were on clearance because they were last gen. The 90mm were a little tricky to mount on the shroud and get them flush and centred. I ended up wiring them on with thin hobby wire from the hardware store and then used a little bit of plastic specific JB Weld to make sure.

I can get other colors now too. ;) OR.......rgb (colorshift) ones. ;)

I prefer 90s on the ones I do. Don't know why, I think they look better. And yeah, wire 'em up. Wire won't fail......glue will. Trust me on that!

I don't have any pics at night with the HID's on yet though.
For anyone interested in doing this I recommend you use the film and NOT the paint. I'm having some issues now with the light output, even with the HID upgrade. I'll try polishing it down a bit this weekend and see if that helps, if not i'll buff it all off and try again. It's too bad cause I really like the look.

Yeah I'd like to get those chrome shrouds taken care of, but I just DO NOT want to take these headlights apart.

I retro'ed my 2010 to Morimoto projectors and it is really a pain in the rear.... I just don't see myself messing with it again! :yucky:

The OEM Projector headlight assembly is what im looking for, but im contemplating between HID or LED. Has anybody else tried LED bulbs as headlights? I have already experienced HID headlights when i had my Charger, but i would love to have LED...because their LED!
Anybody got any input or advice? Thanks

If your talking about the plug and play ones. I've seen a few but the light output is not that great. Even though I've never seen them in a projectors before. Not if the tech is good yet for plug and play.

Would love the retro some LED Benz CLS or Audi R8 headlights..$$$

I would say it would depend on who you buy them from and what type, Brand, Lumens/Discharge. How much would those Benz CLS lights your talking about cost?

LED drop in kits that are on the market now.......don't fit on the OEM projectors. They are too deep

Well here's a cheaper one I found. Most are around $700
2011 2013 Mercedes CLS63 AMG CLS550 Headlamp Headlight Passenger Right LED | eBay

Who knows how it't wired up though.

Good to know. They are kinda bulky for now. They probably will make them smaller eventually

I'm reviving this thread!!! LOL just because I'm interested in doing this. My 2014 2500 is a "black appearance group" I thought it was blacked out as can be until I saw a new power wagon on the local dealership lot. The part around the projector was blacked out where mine is chrome (that's the only chrome in the headlight). I always figured it was crime for light reflection or something until I saw the power wagon. My question is what kind of paint did you use and how did you prep the "chrome" (I assume it's just mirrored plastic) I plan on getting halos in the near future and figuref while I have the lights apart I could paint too.
