Those wagner oex already have that built in, you can see it graduates where the pad hits the wheels. The two end pieces are thin. I havent seen a mass marketed pad with so much built into it and sold so inexpensive.

Do you guys think I can still run these EBC anti vibration shims with the new OEX pads?

I thought these where unique and I’ve never seen them before the EBC pads.
How could all of the other pads work and the oex not with this? Not sure, but I'd try.

EBC was the only pad I’ve ever see with silencing shim fit into the brake caliper piston. All my others I’ve ever used have them glued to the back of the brake pad steel. The EBC used both and not sure if that would cause any issues if the pads aren’t designed with that in mine. As long as I have enough room for the pads I’m gona try. I got the rear OEX pads and they look good but very weird.

Got all my pads and thinking of doing the swap this weekend. Do you guys lube the slides or the stainless clips the pads ride in when u do brakes? I usually never do but did on the EBCs bc I didn’t want any noise. I’m in the mindset of not doing it bc grease attracts dust and debris which can inhibit movement.

I did all the pads in a rush today before the weather turns. One thing I noticed is that the OEX pads are pretty thin compared to the EBCs as in less pad material. I scuffed up the rotors with 120 grit to remove any ridges and pad material on the rotor surface. Installed supplied clips with no grease. All the spiders on the calipers were free so I left them alone. One thing I noticed on the rear when spinning the wheel or rotor with a pry bar is every 1.5-2 turns it got tight like harder to turn and then freed up and spun fine. Truck was still in park, not running and rear was up in the air. Tire was on one side bolted down and nothing was rubbing that I could find. Driveshaft was obviously locked cuz the trans was in park. It was weird and harder to turn but didn’t make any noise. Verified it wasn’t the parking brake and tested to make sure it tightened up and broke loose when unlocked.

You have a mechanics thermo gun?

I'd check all 4 corners after a short drive. Obviously this isnt pad related, but I would get it to spin freely, stick it in neutral and do it? Use a caliper tool to pull back the piston? Sometimes that piston can get cocked a tad if it isnt pulled back with equal pressure all around it.

I do, I have an IR temp gun. I could test that.

Didn’t do neutral as the truck would need to be running. I thought the 8spd auto parks once you open the door?

I used a clamp and old pad to push pads back. When I tested it was before installation of the new pads. So I had the rear driver apart and the pass rear was still fully assembled with wheel on. Rotated the driver wheel by hand felt it. I then assembled the driver side and took apart the pass side and retested and the same thing.

I did not know that about 8 speed, so no way to put park truck in neutral? lol ouch, jump out the window? Nascar style baby. I do clamps as well, but maybe try again if wheel isnt spinning freely. gotta fix whatever that is.

@blackbetty14 there is a lever behind a removable lower dash panel to the left of the steering column that allows you to manually put a ZF8 spd into neutral.

Put about 50 miles on the new pads and so far so good. Nice and quiet.
