So this spring before I put the wheels back on I'm going to toss a coat of paint on the calipers but one of the biggest pains in the ass is all the brake dust from the OEM pads. They can coat a wheel in like 10 miles. Anyone have any luck with a still good performing pad but one that doesn't throw rediculous amounts of dust too?

I put powerstop pads and rotors on my truck. No dust problem and much better braking over stock.

I have been using WAGNER OEX Pads about 6 months and have not noticed any dust !
https://www.wagnerbrake.com/products/brakes/wagner-oex.html

I put these on today after talking with h395 and him using them on his truck that tows trailers up and down the Ike. A real nicely made pad, stopped some squeaking, but too soon for me to say anything about dust, maybe pm h395 if interested. I was going to use Power Stop as well, glad to use oex they are the top of the wagner line for this application and saved like 20 bucks a pad. But can't go wrong with power stop either.

Which one looks better? So after researching and listen to hemi395, the wagners have a double life compared to their other pads, plus more contact points, more room for air to cool, and cheaper. Thus, for me I like the Wagner OEX. Wagner Brake OEX1084 OEX was the front brakes for my 2010, I don't know what the number is for the 2018, I think it may be different. OEX is the bottom pic, power stop top pic.

Op also, there is no break in procedure of OEX pads, just plug in play. If you are doing rotors, wagner has a specialty coated ones for perfect use with pads, but I only changed pads today not rotors. Now, research power stop, it is a different pad material that requires a break in procedure, you cant even have water on the pad during this time, so make sure there is no rain or puddles when you first use the power stop pads. Look it up.

Hi let us know if we can help. We offer most brands. Our biggest seller for pads is the posi-quiet pads, they offer low dust with good stopping power and longevity. Message me for a quote if interested.

some people say break in brakes should be a thing, not just power stop. Just fyi, I never had any problems, but it can't hurt anyhow.

With the Wagner OEX do they make a rotor to pair up with them? Or just use OEM rotors?

Yes they do, PM h395 he has more info. He said something about e coated, but I'm trying to find out if they have a drilled and slotted option. He's got 20k miles and towed heavy up grades and said his brakes are still at 66% ish. I try and go on the cheap for first brake job and just do pads, and then second time go allin bearings rotors etc. Hopefully Corey will chime in, I'll ask him to give what info he can here maybe tomorrow.

I live in mild climate to say the least, maybe if I lived in snow state I would do whole enchilada every time I needed brakes. He's in maine, his first set of oem rotors were badly damaged early likely from the salt.

So I'm running Wagner OEX pads and Wagner Premium ECoated rotors at all 4 corners. So far they're holding up very well wear wise and rust wise. $280 shipped from Rockauto.

My truck sits during the week so if I go driving in the winter on a Sunday it could sit all week with salt all over the rotors. So far these ECoated rotors are holding up to that extremely well.

Another thing I do every fall is pull them apart and grease the slides and the back of the pads to help prevent the salt from seizing the pads in the rotors. Not something everyone needs to do but it certainly won't hurt.

No need to pay more for drilled and slotted rotors, good blanks will be better more surface for the pad to bite. Cheap drilled rotors are prone to craking, blanks will last longer, slotted will offer more performance at the expense of wearing down the pad faster.

Ceramic pads will shed a lot less crap in your wheels, but they tend to fade quicker under high temps, semi metallic will generate a lot of dust but they will grab better under the same conditions, just the nature of the beast.
