I was reinstalling the steering column and I forgot to press the brake pedal down so I didn't break the switch, and it broke. The spring and all the plastic pieces were all over the place.
After I put the column back in and started the truck up, started the truck up, I had a "maintenance brake system (I had started the truck when putting everything back together to verify the truck started), cleared the code, and it never came back. The tail lights work, comes out of park, does everything it's supposed to do.
So what does the switch actually do? I plan on replacing it since it's $28
