My 6.4L 2500 is not even a year old with 10K miles and my engine shut off as I was driving. Thank god I wasn't going fast or hauling one of my trailers. After getting the truck towed to the dealer, it was determined that I had a broken valve spring. Apparently this isn't common for a new truck...what are my options moving forward? Is the engine still good or do I have to worry about another one breaking as I'm towing a trailer?

Options would depend on any other damage internal to the engine. is the valve damaged, cam damaged, piston damaged, cylinder damaged. I would make sure anything and everything that could possibly have gotten damaged is inspected and if there is anything other than just the spring is bad I would be wanting a replacement engine. Most important question is where did the broken pieces end up, are all of them accounted for etc.

Dealer said everything looked good and the spring cracked right in the middle into two pieces. However, they did start the truck and drove it(barely) in the garage and basically pushed it into a lift. I wondered if they did more damage trying to drive it as the truck was vibrating and giving them a hard time.
