Can these marks on the 8.4 screen be polished out?

I ordered a protector, but now I'm not going to install it on this radio, but it will be the first thing I do with a new radio, or worst case they refuse to replace it, and I buy a new screen.

This is ********, screens looking like crap in 10 months with light and careful use of the screen. At least mine is fully under warranty. I'm not even going to tell them about the amp, speaker change and the LC2i Pro until after they look at the screen and make their assessment.

I want to thank you for all of your replies. Otherwise I probably would have assumed it was my fault, and fixed it out of pocket. I can tell too, that there is a longer more faint mark from scrolling though my music list. It's definitely a faulty screen, and didn't just happen while installing the t-harness like I originally assumed.

I might understand this after 5 years or more, even then I wouldn't like it, but 8k miles, no kids and no one drives it but me? This is clearly a ****** coating on these. I should ask my bother if his 2016 has any issues with this.
Thank you but I'm just paying it forward. The 2016 radios look the same but are actually a different manufacturer and don't have the same screen. My older 2014 8.4 screen didn't do this for 5 years but all of the 2018+ screens I've seen do this (some much worse). Here's the thread of the delaminated screens...

I agree that if you can get the dealer to replace it and then use a screen protector, that would be the way to go. My 18 had the same issue, only worse. I found a recommendation on a detailers website to polish screens with regular tooth paste. It took a lot of elbow grease, but it cleaned it up. I run a screen protector now.

putting a screen protector on a bad screen just preserves the bad screen, not fixes it. resolve the issue, then put the protector on the new one. I'm sure you knew that though

So you polished the coating off completely down to the glass? Others have mentioned doing that. I'll try to get it replaced, then look at other options if they won't, although I won't allow them to say no without a fight. I mean this is a major part of the interior, and it's meant to be touched. So it should be able to be touched without rubbing the coating off.

In this case it does as the screen blemishes are no longer visible and protected from further blemishes. It's also the difference between $200-$400+ out of pocket for those without warranty vs $5-$20 dollars to correct a purely cosmetic issue.

Or the screen protector adheres to the surface of the blemishes significantly enough to make them optically insignificant.

But the one referenced earlier is made in Germany so probably magic...

The smudges were on the screen when I got the truck. 2018 with only 14k miles. It sure seemed to me that I was just polishing out the smudges. When I got them mostly gone, I applied a Mopar screen protector. Don't notice it anymore.

I love how ram cares now just randomly pops in every once in a while for some people, yet I have noticed numerous others, myself included, that have reached out to them for help and dont even get a reply. I have a 2018 ram and my radio has started to completely delaminate. Looks like a giant bubble under the screen. I hope you are able to get your screen replaced, those little marks would bother me too. These screens shouldn't be failing as quick as they are.

I have mine messed up too. One day recently I was wiping my hands with a sanitizing wipe, and thought it would work good to clean off finger smudges.
Wrong! Well, it did do that, but also degraded the coating. Now at certain lighting, it looks cloudy.
I wasn’t aware of the coating when I wiped it, as before I only ever used a damp microfiber cloth.
Even before, I was showing spots where my fingers usually touch it on the lower part.
I looked into a new screen, watched a U-Tube video. If you can get one, they are pretty pricey.
Does anyone know if you can replace just the out screen? Video I watched involved pulling the radio and disassembling from the back side.

I bought a used 2019 Classic. The morons that detail them for the lot put that oily shine crap everywhere, including the touch screen. I think it ate my coating. Now that the shiny crap is off, looks like years of finger touching wear spots. Truck came with only 21,000 miles. Former rental. But hardly old enough to have so much wear on the screen. My other vehicles are a challenger 5 years old and a Cherokee 3 years old. Screens are perfect. So either the detail stuff or rental place using glass cleaner. It bugs me. But only noticeable when off.

I would try screen protector for cost of new screen. On phones if a scratch, a screen protector will make invisible most of the time since the layer on the screen protector fills in the bad area. If you decide to take it in, remove all stereo stuff like amp pro. Or they will say you damaged it.

Glad I read this thread. I have a new 2019 Ram 3500 with only 4,000 miles, with the very nice 12 inch screen. So far, so good. I've only lightly wiped it with a dry microfiber cloth to knock off the dust. But I book marked that screen protector from Amazon.

I'm going to try @RamCares, as mine is also bad. 2018 which is out of warranty in regards to the mileage, but not in years yet. You would think they would warranty a screen or elect. issue with radio for full three years regardless of mileage. mileage imo should be tied into engine, drivetrain, etc. ram_2.jpg

The one I posted is for the 8.4 inch screen. I haven't heard of the new 12 inch screen having these issues.

They've (FCA) done it for others in your situation.
