Change cabin air filter?

I couldn't find any threads regarding changing the cabin air filter on a Gen 5. My 2020 is 1.5 years old, 27k miles. Was just wondering how often Gen 5 owners have observed they could use a replacement for this, and how easy it was to replace. Didn't seem too hard on the older models, and I can't imagine it's much different on a Gen 5.

Not sure as mine didn't come with the option, I added it later on. 20k is usually the mark the dealership says to change them.

Replacement interval varies depending on local conditions (wet, dry, pollen concentration, pollution levels, dusty conditions, etc...) so I decided to replace them every 6 months. It's not an expensive item and now that I am in Arizona I have more dust to deal with than pollen or mold as I did in Oregon.

What was the install of it like on a Gen 5? Pain or pretty easy?

I have 16500 miles on mine and I have changed mine 3X. Each time it was pretty gross. It is my understanding that all cabin air is re-circulated all the time. This was first time at 5000 miles.

I have no idea. The video shows a process I remember on my 4th Gen.

The 4th gen is easy. Even adding it in only takes like 10 minutes a new door and filter. Not sure on the 5th gen. I am sure its just as easy. Wifes old 19 Pacifica was just like the ram. Behind the glove box door. Let me see if I can find anything too.

Arizona has so many sand storms in the southern part
I would change it twice a year too

You have to remember, outside air passes through the CAF, unless you set the recirculation to on, to keep dirt & pollen out, just close the Recirculation door

NOT hard, I just at times have problems re-attaching that dang cable, if I not pay attention, it retracts, LOL. I would change all dependent upon where U live. But such a cheap filter, every 5-10K would suffice, IMHO (very humble).

The glove box on 5th gens are a little tougher to remove than on 4th gens, but otherwise it's the same process. I change mine at each oil change. 8k-10k miles.

I leave my HVAC on auto 100% of the time w/recirculating engaged. It only switches to outside air inlet when the system calls for the defroster. I have both engine and cabin air filter replaced w/every other oil change unless I’ve been in dusty or heavy pollen conditions then they’re replaced at the next oil change regardless.

I'm in New York and we get so much pollen I change them on both vehicles spring and fall.

I had the same experience at 11k. It seems to have more than just dust as well such as bits of things probably from leaves and other debris. Change it regularly at least every oil change or two.

I have a 2020. Very easy to change. Mine was super dirty at 24k even after dealer claimed they changed it at 20. Ill change every 10k with oil.

I could be wrong but it seems that on long road trips the cabin will “pump in” outdoor air. I always have it on recirculate but during a long drive the air vent on the passenger side will change sound and I can smell the outdoor air.

Only when recirculation is selected, that is not possible if any of the windshield defroster modes are selected. All the air goes through the cabin air filter whether in recirc or not.
