Hey everyone. I have a 2009 1500 alt qc 5.7L hemi. My oil pan has a pinhole in it and is leaking. I’m buying a new one and a gasket. Anyone have any tips or tricks for changing it? Or the fastest easiest way to do it?

Thanks

If you don't have one, get a $30 subscription to Alldatadiy.com. I am looking at the removal procedure right now. In addition to the oil pan replacement, there are callouts for windage tray and gasket assembly replacement and a specific bolt extraction sequence on the tray itself. It looks involved but by no means impossible. Also, you will be raising the engine off the engine mounts and removing crossmember. 4x4 has an additional step over the 4x2. That website has the procedure pretty well documented.

Can you not get that hole spot-welded? Would that not solve the problem pretty quick for ya?

Do you have a 4x4? If so I had to lower the front axle to get mine out past the oil pickup.

I had the same problem, tried welding it but the pan was to thin from deterioration and every time I tried to arc it, it blew another hole in it lol.

Thank you! Yes it’s a 4X4 and it’s I only pinhole but there is too much rust flaking off to try and just patch it so I’m just going to replace it. Do you have to raise the engin or will pulling the cross member out and dropping the front diff give me enough clearance to get the pan out?

Looks like loosening motor mounts and removing cross member will work.
