Clay bar

I just got a clay bar and i want to use it on my truck. I have never used a clay bar before so what would i need to use it properly. Iv heard you need to use some sort of lubrication so it doesnt stick to the truck so what should i use?

If the clay bar came with the lube, you just spray it on paint and clay over the lube. No pressure really needed. If the clay didn't come with any lube you can use like a quick detailer spray. Just make sure to keep the area lubed that you are claying

Don't waste instant detailer as lubricant for claying. Mix some car wash soap and water in a spray bottle. Use a GENEROUS amount of lube on a 2-4ft^3 area at a time, letting the clay do the work, with little pressure. Every time you move to a new area, wipe the last eare down to dry it, and then knead the clay to show fresh surface.
If te clay is hard to can microwave it for a few sec to soften it up.
If you drop it, THROW IT AWAY, or at least only use it on rocker panels or maybe your glass.

Get a cheap instant detailer for the lube. That's what my Mother's kit came with: their own branded detailer. Works just great and in the case with Mother's...it smells like cinnamon.

When I bought my Adams kit, I intended to use the detail spray solely for claying. I ended up doing what audio1der did, just car wash soap and water. I would do a couple of sprays of that, then one spritz of detail spray so give it a quick shine when polishing off the water and residue. Worked like a charm

Be sure to wax it right after, claying really helps, ALOT!

I have played with using a 'Dawn' dish soap instead of car wash soap because when I clay, I will polish and wax afterwards so I want everything on the surface clean of previous wax anyway, but with the 2 or 3 kinds f clay I've tried, the Dawn soap broke down the clay so it wasn't worth it.
For the $, I like Mother's instant detail spray. I've actually used it with a wax applicator pad and quickly applied it to the whole car, then buffed it off like a coat of wax. GREAT results.

I just used leftover soapy water from the wash bucket. I use a 2 bucket method, so there is very little dirt in it if at all.

ONR has become my most-used detailing product- works good on light dirt as a no-water wash, makes a GREAT detail spray and clay bar lube!
