I have done alot of researching on the clutch fan delete mod. I have a 16 model and seen where some have deleted the clutch fan and just run the electrical fan already on the truck with a cooler thermostat. I dont do any towing so rhe stick fan should work ok right? I already have an unlocked pcm and a hemifever tune. If I delete the clutch fan will I need to data log for a new tune? Thanks

I'm running the same mod and have had no issues for what it's worth. I don't think it's absolutely necessary to do any logging to have Sean tweak your tune to account for the 180 degree t-stat, he'll probably add a bit of timing, but it never hurts to do a logging session to verify there are no issues.

It was definitely worth doing. If you don’t do any towing and don’t live in a super hot area you should be ok. If you want to turn the fans on at a lower temperature like 190-200 you should be able to just ask Hemi to send you a new tune with lower electric fan temps. A cooler thermostat would only help it and your engine run cooler. I’m running the stock electric ac fan that come on my 2013 1500 Sport. I tow with mine off and on and I live in Chicago, which can go over 100 and super humid off and on in the summer.

So I removed the clutch fan, use a 190 T stat, and had a custom tune account for the difference. I live in the Pacific NW so cooler climate. The stock AC e-fan will keep up but it will cycle on and off more vs the shrouded V6 E-fan. I ran my pickup for about 10 months with just the AC fan (no towing), and can attest that the shrouded V6 E-fan cools faster and turns on less.

You could just remove the clutch fan, and reinstall the shrouding with the AC E-Fan and that would probably have the same affect as buying the shrouded V6 E-fan. Just won't have the cleaner engine bay.

Minus going to a 180 thermostat, that’s basically what I did. I left the shroud on. The v8 AC electric fan on the 2013 and newer trucks works as well as the v6 AC electric fan, so there’s no need to change. If you need extra space to do a job, then remove part of the shroud temporarily to do it and then put it back on when you’re done. It’s super simple.

So you just had your custom tune tweaked to turn on the fan earlier or did you adjust through the handheld tuner?

No need to remove shroud to take fan/clutch.......remove bottom part (2 pc shroud).....fan/clutch will drop out the bottom.....4-inch lift helps also....LoL

I never did verify size difference but I believe the V6 E fan blade is 2" larger in diameter then the AC fan. Motor looks the same between the two.

Just be aware that if one does install the V6 E fan, you will have to unpack some length from the factory harness in order to plug in to the V6 E fan. I ended up pulling my grill to unbundle the fan harness to get more length. Plug in is the same, just location is different and therefore more length is needed.

Also to save everyone the trouble that I went through, the Pentastar PWM fan is not compatible. Custom tuner can't program it, and nor can the dealer activate it.

Yeah the 2013-2014 OEM 8 speed electric fans are noisy as hell, but are adequate for cooling during commuting with mechanical delete.

That said, planning to swap to the v6 fan this spring.

I can vouch for this, when the A/C fan kicks in on my 2013 you can hear it with the music blasting, but holy crap it brings down the temps quick.
