Does your wife know about all this?
I am using my third Volante; 2005 Ram,2010 Ram,2018 Ram. Never a problem.
Why do you think you know more than the engineers? If you read the specifications on the cold air intake, most don’t add any improved hp until you are around 8,000 RPM, which, is totally unrealistic because you will “red line” at about 6500. I purchased a cold air system years ago, on an 05’ Ram 1500, 5.7 Hemi. And never seen improvement in power nor fuel efficiency improvement. Most cold air intake systems manufactures want you to purchase aftermarket PCM upgrades to override Manufactures setting. But that’s very costly for minimum gain. My suggestion is if you want such system research and do some product reviews from users not what’s published on their websites, because, many of those “5” star rating are coming from in house not real users. Best of luck.I just bought a 2016 Ram Express with the 5.7 Hemi. I want to put a cold air intake on the truck, any suggestions as to brand? Open box or enclosed box?
I love mine. Those Volant intakes seem to be overlooked a lot but from what I’ve seen of them online they look like a good intake. That Powercore filter is interesting too...
You have the scoop too right? Which filter? I tracked down an older model S&B with the lower scoop which was NOT easy to find. I wish I had seen the Volant had the lower scoop too before I hunted those down...I love mine.
Yes I have the scoop and the Donaldson filter. You have the scoop too right? Which filter? I tracked down an older model S&B with the lower scoop which was NOT easy to find. I wish I had seen the Volant had the lower scoop too before I hunted those down...
I believe you-Ive heard some of them locally--but I think i will have to wait until I actually need a new exhaust-unless I fall into some unexpected cash.Just cant see cutting off a perfectly good system. First time I wished something would wear out sooner than later.I tell you, my smile was big when stomping on it when stock, but it’s ear to ******* ear with the snarling growl of an exhaust and S&b intake!
so now after 9 years they made a air induction for my volant ! did my own drain pipe fiberglass in bumper cant see it on freeway once got 21.6 mpg and now cooler wow it sooo boost the power I feel but in summer engine sooo hot air out side is cooler so runs better I feel ! now can get on ebay cheaper and a california sticker lone time awaiting ! I have it programmed 91 oct and better setting so it has the power I sooo love ! to each there own oh one thing I did block off side towards fender look in side fender a square flange bet it lets dirt right in to ur air cleaner anyone else see this ?
I thought of trying that-just figured the air would be same temp as that from the wheel-well, perhaps it does help by forcing air in at cruising speeds-- I may try-its cheap enough, however weather is going to ***** now-wish I tried it in the summer!Stock box, drop in high flow filter and a add a tube 3" from box to behind front bumper helped my stock motor pull better/longer. Kind of like an added breath on upper rpm/wot!
Oh, and paint for another 5 hp...lol

I’ll leave this here
I question why the rpm quit a 5 thou..The hemi is a 6200 red line..Unless it dramatically drops from 5g on..
