Hey guys. Bought a 2015 Ram 1500 and noticed a troubling defect. Driving down the road, the lights are adequate (though could be better). However, when I quickly realized that they do not illuminate enough to the side of the truck, like where I'm turning into. I basically have to guess and assume that there is nothing there. I can't see where I'm turning until the headlights swing around and are pointing at it. Are mine just out of adjustment? Has anyone added some lighting to compensate for this? If so, where did you mount it?

The fog lights work pretty well. I live on a windy gravel road and they do the trick for me. They light up wider so you can see the sides of the road better

I wouldn't call that a troubling defect, in fact I've never had a car or truck that illuminated around a turn or corner with the stock headlamps. As the others have said I use the fog lamps when it's in unlit dark conditions, actually i pretty much have them on all the time anyway. Guess i could get the wife to jump out and wand me around corners too, but then that probably wouldn't go over well.

Another suggestion is Uber or Lyft. Either one can help him navigate around every corner while keeping everyone else safe. I hear they also help with "blind spots" caused by the rear seat head rests in these trucks.

My current Subaru Forester and my old Audi A8 used to light road curves via headlights that turned with steering input. It is a nice little touch. As for the truck, I keep my fogs on with headlights always (we get lots of not ideal conditions here). They work quite well out to 50 +/- feet, and aling the sides pretty decently.

Is the OP the same guy who claimed the headrests were defective and an obvious design flaw because they forced his head downward when he pressed his head up against them? The words "troubling defect" used to describe a normal thing is what made me think of the headrest guy. The sky is falling!

I just got a 2016 1500 quad cab ... and the headrests are constructed backwards! If you were rear-ended with those headrests leaning forward, you'd likely break your neck and be KILLED, or at least seriously injure yourself.

After trying to figure out what was going on with what appeared to be some sort of manufacturing design screw-up, I realized that my headrests were manufactured as a mirror image. I got some help and pulled the headrest out. I re-installed it reversed, and that is obviously the way it is supposed to be --- except that the notches that hold the headrest at a particular height are now located where they don't do anything.

I don't know if my car is a freak, or whether there are a lot of owners unaware of the orthopedic risk. I am going to contact RAM about this because this is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Apparently there is some chatter elsewhere on the Web about this, but found none here.

The title of the headrest thread is "front headrest DANGER" if you're interested in searching for it.

Hahaha, it always amazes me the things people on a forum come up with to complain about.

I would love to find his source pointing to your neck breaking by holding it steady when hit from.the rear.....should be an interesting read....

Andrew Canton I'm not really comparing you to the headrest guy. His post was over the top. I guess I could see how he might think they're defective but his dramatic wording is what gets me. There are a lot of good folks here who may tease a little but they're usually only playing and will steer you in the right direction.

Many European cars have headlights that illuminate the turn.

Some cars also turn on the left or right fog lights when you take a left or right corner.

I've never had a vehicle that doesn't illuminate a little to either side. I personally think this is a pretty major design flaw, as you can't see where you're turning into. This truck didn't come with fog lights, which apparently are a safety requirement. Guess I'll buy some LED lights and just experiment.

You guys serious? I've never had a vehicle that doesn't illuminate a little to either side. This is a downright design flaw, as you can't see where you're turning into. This truck didn't come with fog lights, which apparently are a safety requirement. So much help all you critics are. Guess I'll buy some LED lights and just experiment.
Changing bulbs can make them brighter, but wont change the light pattern. Could try adjusting the lights slightly wider. Adding factory fogs is a bit of a chore and requires a different headlight switch I believe or that would be my recomendation. Anybody have new ideas with the new information?

My truck doesn't automatically mute the music when the song has foul words and my wife is in the passenger seat, which causes her to verbally abuse me for my music choice and distract me when I'm driving. This is obviously dangerous. FCA should fix this.

I completely agree with The OP. I have a 2018 2500 Laramie and the headlights are the one thing I dislike. I have 5 vehicles and this is the only one that provides almost zero peripheral light when turning a corner. I utilize a couple boat ramps that are extremely dark at night. With this truck it is very hard to see to make the turn into the parking lot. In comparison, my 2004 Yukon XL provides excellent light when turning corners.

I really like the 2500 but hate the headlights. If there is an aftermarket alternative that is better I'd spend the money.
