I don't believe that the PCM needs to relearn either the crank or the cam sensor. The sensors should work, right out of the box.

You shouldn't need to do a crank/cam correlation relearn just because you replaced the sensor.

The most important question, did you use an OEM sensor? Our trucks don't like aftermarket sensors. If you have the old, original, OEM sensor, try putting it back in.

What are the symptoms? Engine not starting? Misfiring?

If need to to a crank/cam correlation relearn, this is it's location if AlfaOBD for Windows. I'm not sure where it is in ThinkDiag, but i'm sure it has the ability to do a correlation relearn of the crank/cam:

Ha! I just realized that I replied to a 2 year old thread. A one-n-done'er who got it to work, and in typical fashion never followed up.

Regardless, since I have a similar scan tool, the thinkscan 689BT, I went out to see If I could find the crank/cam relearn procedure. It was pretty easy to find, but I didn't actually do the procedure since my truck works just fine.

Hopefully he got it done.

I am using a OEM sensor; unfortunately i dont have the original. And i asked about this because ive read pretty much everywhere about doing the relearn after sensor change out. Yes, the post is old but I was hopeful they would reply with a follow up...frustrating when they dont. Thank you for your input, I appreciate it.
