Hi everyone,
Our truck is a 2016'Ram 1500 Longhorn with 49,000km's.
I had the driver's side up on ramps the other day as I was running wiring from a 6 pin connector installed in the front bumper to the rear lights as we will be towing it behind our motorhome this winter. There was no new wiring introduced to the truck other than the turn light and running light. After completing this I went to remove it from the ramps and all it would do is turn over and not start. After leaving it sit for 20 mins, I tried again and eventually it started. The engine light was on but I disconnected the battery and the light was gone. The next day I ran errands for approx 3 hours with no issues along with filling up with gas. 1 hour drive home everything was fine,, turned at my corner and she slowly died on me. When I try to start it, she turns over really well ,, occasionally trying to kick in but nothing. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Whenever you get a CEL you need to run codes before doing anything else, hopefully that situation will come back and you can run codes?

If it starts again and you have a check engine light, go to an auto parts store and have them use their OBD reader to get any codes. Alternately, check your OBD code by observing the odometer and clicking the ignition key 3 times. Quickly read code or codes and look it up on the internet. Good luck out there on the prairie!

Welcome to the forum.

Can you hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key to run (without cranking/starting the engine)?

How much fuel did you have when you were on the ramps? May have been at such an angle that the fuel pump was running dry and caused some damage.

The fact it didn't start, then did start and ran fine then died and back to not starting makes it a bit more difficult to diagnose. Have you tried just disconnecting the wires you installed for chits and giggles to see if there is an issue with the wiring?

Another easy, cheap, test you can try is to dump a couple bottles of HEET in the fuel in case you got some water in your tank. On the ramps, you might have been at an angle that the pump was sucking water.

Just spit-balling here, but easy things to check. Good luck!

**Also, as others noted, if you throw a code, check it.**

Sure sounds like fuel starvation.
