Just an odd thing I came across, researching different ways to tap into my trailer harness for reverse, turns etc. Curt doesnt even carry these anymore (part #s) but you can still get them on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007EA6WQU/?tag=ramforum-20 - 5 pin pigtail

https://www.amazon.com/CURT-55384-C...KE9KEJ2TF3T&psc=1&refRID=G3PAMXVYPKE9KEJ2TF3T -4 pin pigtail

I read a post on here about these splices and checked them out, The 5 pin flat will not fit my 2014 Ram Express Black according to Amazon but the 4 pin will with the same exact 7 pin connector. Other than one is a 4 and one is a 5 pin flat...whats the difference and why is the 5 pin not for my truck? I mean isnt the 5th pin just adding reverse? Any ideas?

Don't trust Amazon for part look up, they are wrong many times. Both of those links state they work on my '15, the trailer plug on your '14 is the same.
Your correct that there's no difference other than the five flat gives you reverse and it will work on your truck.

I installed one a couple years ago to power my bed lights. Suddenly last year I started blowing fuses trailer tail light every time I plugged in my trailer. Couldn't figure it out but on a whim I un-plugged the Curt and the problem went away. As of yet I have not had time to investigate as to why it does that, on my list to do.

Probably corrosion in the plugs. I’ll be using this harness shortly for some auxiliary backup lights in my AEV rear bumper. I’ll be putting in dialectic grease to help protect against corrosion, because I tend to get a little muddy from time to time.
