So after reading all about people replacing the stock Y-pipe with the Magnaflow one, I decided to order one up. After calling around to a few speed shops in the area, I finally found someone who said they can and are willing to install it. I have a few questions for the people that have done custom exhausts...

1) The shop doesn't have a mandrel bender. Should I keep searching around for someone that does have one? Does it make that much difference?

2) They are going to use aluminized pipe. I live in south east PA, so we have our fair share of salt on the roads in the winter. I always try to make sure I spray the undercarriage after every snow storms clear up, but am I asking for trouble if I go with aluminized? I plan to keep the truck for the next 5-10 years.

3) They quoted me $200 for the install. He said he was going to cut the midpipe back behind the cross member so he'd have room to bend the new pipe in. That sounded steep compared to some reports of people getting their y-pipe welded in for like $80-100. Should I keep looking around? Anyone have good recommendations of shops in the Philadelphia area for this type of work? I'm willing to drive a bit if it's worth it to get it done right.

This is going in a 2013 1500 Crew Cab 4x4. I appreciate your help!

*I know there are a number of threads already talking about replacing the y-pipe. I apologize in advance for making another one, but I couldn't find specific answers there.*

There ya go! :)

mandrel isn't going to be much of a difference for you. That setup doesn't sound half bad and would work great. Cheap too.

The Y pipe is awesome. You'll feel it! Less into the throttle at highway speeds.

I know the area well. Former Bucks Co.

Look up Low Cost Exhaust in Bristol, PA. Not too far, worth the drive. They’re excellent!

Call in advance.

This shop is basically around the corner from me. I've gone there a few times, and the first few times I've gone there, I wasn't impressed with their work. Though it does seem like the guy running it now does better work. The meineke that was down the road from them used to do amazing exhaust work. The guy they had was amazing, but the shop changed hands and he no longer works there.
