That does sound like a good price to me !
Does he have any work of his you can look at ?
How long has he been is business ?

Here is his ad. Not a big showing of his work, or maybe it is all of his work. IDK. But it looks okay to me.

IMHO---That is CHEAP--I'd have a hundred questions--
Jay

Yeah, it is a lot of labor. I said yes for the 17 of April, weather depending. If on the 13th it looks like no Gail force storm is coming, I will lock the day in. He says if I show up first thing in the morning, he can get it done before the end of the day. Cool!!! :head3:

Is he going to clear coat over the black so you won't have a "ridge" in the paint?

at that price, i would expect vinyl stickers, not paint, and plenty of air bubbles trapped underneath

I was thinking a $1000. $770 seems like a real deal. I'm factoring in some flaws, but expect that overall I will be happy with the result.

I offer free welding, and built into my price is my best effort, not perfection. I did this all last summer and only two took me up on the offer. You get what you pay for and both guys were happy. I expect the same.

My friend owns a body shop/ custom paint & does excellent work, charged me 500$ to color match my fender flares, I removed & reinstalled, and 500$ to apply the bedliner.
Both were friend prices so I was thinking that price was too good to be true.

Hopefully he takes pride in his work & figures doing a great job for you is like free advertising for him.

Look forward to seeing how it comes out.

Painting is delayed. 1. I don't want to be driving in foul weather with a new paint job. And currently we are getting hit with winter like conditions. 2. Painter has a staff member out for the week, so things are tight at his end.

Hope to reschedule next week. I'm anxious to get this done.

Local guy here did my Sierra last year, I removed the bumpers, grill, fender flares etc so all he had to do was sand and paint but it was still the entire vehicle, not just some accents and that was $950. Even pulled out some dents that I told him I didn't care if he left. Couple of tiny imperfections but nothing a normal person would see just walking by.

$770 is cheap but relative to what I paid last year for a full repaint your guy could be legit.

Long time ago I pulled the rocker panels off a '94 Corvette and had them painted. I don't recall how much but it was inexpensive and the results were great. Unfortunately, without some splash guards rockers don't go long before they are all dinged up again. My Ram does have the splash guards so the results should last some time. Hopefully.

Painting has been scheduled for next Tuesday. I now have the address of the painter.

He is doing this on his property, farm land, just north and outside city limits of Post Falls, Id. Sound like a fun little side business for a farmer between planting and harvesting a crop. :D

Paint Day was today. Warm and dry, tis was perfect. They got it done in 6 hours, with the last hour just drying. My drive in was on smooth clean Hwy, so no/little worry about rock chips on the rocker panel. Lots of experience, good recommendations, and overall I'z very happy.

Here it is just out of the paint booth.

And I think I'm done. All the check boxes are checked on what I wanted to do to this new vehicle. Only thing missing is the winch, but I can't find a new bumper that will house the winch, all the collision avoidance sensors, and not break the bank.

Tis was unsatisfactory. There is some paint bleed where the masking tape was used. Not a big deal, not unexpected, and something I can deal with. Decided to just apply some pin stripping. It is an improvement and hides the minor flaw.

Now do I buy some additional blue pin stripping and make the Ram that much more patriotic. I did find a small bit of blue, that is too thin, nor do I have enough.

BTW, something new for me was to apply heat to the tape during the install. That tape is NOT coming off.
