I continue to read up on EVs, mostly to keep aware. It is interesting that part of the effort is to make them just like ICE vehicles. Case in point, one option I am reading about is adding power and a drive system to travel trailers so the EVs can get the range back up to a usable level. It just seems that more potential for problems and higher costs appear every time someone suggests a new solution to the difference between the two vehicles.

Under very controlled conditions (looking at the larger semi) there may be possibilities for EVs to tow. For regular consumer use it just makes zero sense to reduce towing capabilities to increase towing range (bed mounted extra battery pack).

Perhaps companies need to stop trying to sell something they don't have and just say "Here is a EV shaped like a truck, for many who just use it for basic transportation it is fine." For people who towing and capacity numbers really matter, maybe stop trying to market to them.
If Ram does add a range extender like a rotary engine in the frunk (funny, autocorrect wants to change that to drunk) there might be hope that having two power options doesn't translate to higher repair issues. We will have to wait and see, but a non-plug in hybrid would be something to possibly consider.

Elon is a strange creature, and the people who buy his vehicles are strange too. I think Cybertruck is really him trolling Tesla fanboys. How obnoxious of a vehicle can he make and people will still line up to lay down money for one.

Definitely an interesting dynamic at play here. He is catering to the "woke" (don't take it personal anyone, it's just what it is) crowd with his electric vehicles but is becoming more and more conservative in his views and pushing back against that woke establishment. He is not getting favorable reviews on the truck from that side either.

Have a feeling this will be a big flop all the way around. Anti electric people won't buy it, woke people don't want to give Elon any more money, and it's ridiculously expensive.

Yep, dude is a genius. Quirky as hell, but most geniuses are. He pandered to the green crowd with Tesla then used the money they gave him to buy Twitter. Crazy smart move, and sly as a fox.

looking at the real world specs, and cybertruck pushed the envelope in a few ways. 1. it uses 48-volts, 2. 800-volts, 3. 4680 battery cells, and yes, 4. stainless steel. so it is really nothing like other trucks. we can compare it, but its apples and oranges in many ways. I wouldn't want to own one, but its not going to fail.

I don't think he's genius at all. He has (had) some good business smarts in the past but his real strength is in "vision", surrounding himself with smart engineers, and having the courage to try something new. He's a massive risk taker, and very, very driven (sleeping on the factory floor).

He also has a potty mouth.

He supposedly has or had ties to southern Sask,as his grand parents on his Moms side lived in the Regina area, and he spent several summers as a kid up here.
I also remember reading an article on him a few years ago,and apparently he's slightly autistic,if that's true, that might explain some of his bizarre behavior at times, lol

I love his potty mouth! Him telling Disney to F Off made my year! I'd give him my business just based on the fact he has the balls to not cave to the wokeness in this country....

I'm all for standing up to wokeness. But what is the intent of him saying that? Because he could have said the same thing, politely, and had more effect. Now all he's done is given people yet another reason to hate him and write off the rest of what he says and does. Same thing with the ped0 comments and half of what he writes on twitter these days, a lot of it is over the top and terribly immature.

Something something "catch more flies with honey" etc.

He's not very anti-woke seeing as how if you take away the revenue from selling Al Gore carbon credits, and the EV subsidies Tesla would be in a very different situation. Not sure if Tesla is licensing their charge format, or if he is giving that free gratis.

The NACS or Tesla charger is now the SAE J3400 standard. Something the government should have mandated along with wanting to phase in EVs, all EVs and charging stations need to be compatible with each other, along with not allowing the company that owns them to limit the charger capacity based on the manufacturer of the vehicle.
It wouldn't benefit Musk to shut other manufacturers out of Tesla charging stations as the other manufacturers will begin to outpace them. Tesla stands to make more money in the long run with everyone using the NACS charging then to be eventually squeezed out because those are the only vehicles using that standard.
