Both 3-9 and 4-12 are excellent choices for .17-.22....heck I have 3x9 on a 30-06 and a .243.
What brand you get?..well that's up to you and your wallet.Of course there are lower brands that are just garbage and won't last out there.i killed 2 on an AR platform...that were made for ARs...go figure.
What i really dont understand though is that a BB gun will kill a normal rifle scope..something about the way the vibrations are in a BB gun that does it...never in a million years would i have thought that was possible.
I also wouldn't say it diminishes the rifle as far as value...I would say higher powers of scopes(=$$$ yes)..out perform the rifles capabilities of shooting distance..17-.22 is good for what?...100yds?...im not shooting 100 with a .22.
I to refuse to put a scope on a rifle that costs more than the rifle(i hear ya burla)....I think Ill get by just fine doing it my way....i never I my life spent more than $400 on a scope...and I was pissed doing that.
The squirrel pics you guys are posting aren't like the ones here in my yard...I don't even think they go near vehicles here....pretty sure that would be a bad idea for them if they did
