Please Ram forum, excuse my ***** feast, I just need to get it out to the world.

As soon as you take your vehicle in for maintenance, you dont get that that friendly sales man. You get some grump that needs to be taken out back.

So, I get to the dealer for my trucks first oil change. I already feel like a slap d**k for not doing it myself. But hey, I live in an apartment complex and if I do my oil change out in the parking lot then I fear some old lady might run over my legs while I am under my truck. An honest concern. I take my truck in at 0800 right when they open so I can be in and out. Same tactic I use for the DMV. 5 hours for an oil change!!! 5 hours! I wanted to die. I finally left at 1330.

Next oil change, I am going to risk losing my legs and do it out in the parking lot. It was my trucks first change, I just hope they treated her well.

What the hell was their excuse for such a stupid, ridiculous long time to change your oil??? I would have been pissed and tore a strip off any manager I saw after an hour with it not being started. Totally unacceptable treatment to do to a customer!!!

Wow... I would find a new dealer. Mine has a "quick change" by appointment and I am never there more than 30 minutes....45 if I let them free wash it :)

I'm not sure it would work at the dealer, but at the NY DMV I've found it better to go in right before they close. Once they lock the door all the office staff come out and man all the windows and clear the place out within 20 minutes. The DMV don't pay overtime.

Did you have an appointment? If so then yes you have the right to rage about it and personally I wouldn't have waited that long.

If you didn't have an appointment then you created your own problem because the dealer may have had a number of customers that had scheduled appointments for the morning.

You mean to tell me that they don't have lube techs to handle oil changes separate from the big jobs? No viable business plan would have people doing "express" stuff wait or use a fully trained tech to do the little stuff like oil changes. So if that is the case go someplace else that one will close anyway.

When I bought my truck the salesman, finance guy and everyone else I came into contact with kept telling me about the awesome 30 minute express lube. Then they sent me a coupon and told me again how great it was to get your oil changed in 30 minutes Mon-Sat 9-6.

So, I pull in some random Thursday afternoon at 2 and am told, "sorry, the oil tech just went on break and has one car ahead of you when he comes back. It will probably be 1.5-2 hrs until your done." WTF?????

The WORST thing is business is offering something and not being able to deliver. I guess it's not just my dealership... sounds like an epidemic. Luckily, my city is large enough that I have several dealers to choose from so I'll be checking out another one at the next change.

Well, I had some time to cool off after my horrendous wait. The Ram dealer I went to does not take appointments. That why I was there bright and early at 0800. First come first serve is what I was told when I called. I showed up First in and first out. Or so I thought.

I recently went to one like that too it was so weird because I felt like if I did not go at 7am when they opened no one could seem to guess when I would be able to get the repair finished. Not a fan of that style for non oil change type stuff. I think that needs to be scheduled out so a person can plan their own life too.

the dealer i service mine at is an express lube.. the only thing that makes it take any longer is how many vehicles are in front of you. they do tire rotations, oil, wipers, lights, filters.

My dealer is the same way no appointment. My truck is there right now for wheel alignment, manifold bolt is broken and they're going to flash the computer for my up size in rims. Today will be day 3 that I don't have my truck. They tell me it will be ready today. Hopefully they aren't ******* with me. I miss my truck already.

I left my truck at Eastchester CDJR in NY yesterday with an appointment 2 weeks in advance for a recall flash and a couple of warrantee issues. By the end of the day they did nothing, because of a computer glitch they didn't know the truck was there. They wanted me to leave it another day, but I just took it back. I told my salesman about it and they're supposed to call me today about it.

Doesn't look like I'm getting my truck back today and tomorrow I'm at a job orientation all day. So Friday I'll be getting it. Hate not having my truck

My oil change dealer ordeal:
When time for my first oil change arrived, that Monday morning I went on the website of the dealer where I bought the truck. I clicked the service link and requested LOF and rotate appointment on Saturday (I have a Chrysler pre-paid maintenace contract). Two days later, no confirmation. Sent a more pointed email to service manager expressing my disappointment and frustration with his website. On Thursday he called me to confirm a Saturday appointment-- I specified I needed it back by noon. Dealer is about 30min drive away, so wife and I fought traffic Friday evening to leave it in the overnight drop off--give them every oppportunity to excel. Again, in th service ticket I mentioned appointment and I needed it back by noon. At 1130 on Saturday morning I called to confirm it was nearing completion. NOT STARTED. At 1330 I get a call its ready. we drive 30 mins down, wife drops and goes, since I can't do what I was supposed to do that afternoon and now she has to. Place is an absolute zoo. I check with the service writer on the way in --"Oh! So sorry. We forgot the tire rotation. We'll get right on that." 45 minutes later its finally done. I get the truck back and right in the middle of the hood are two big fat greasy gorilla paw prints. I just took the keys and left. When Chrysler sent me the "How was your service?" questinaire (remember pre-paid contract), I unloaded. A week later the Service Manager calls. GM called two days later. Gave both of thme both barrells and hung up.
Needless to say, I take my contracted service to the closer dealer now. No trouble getting an appointment. I can wait 45mins max, or leave it at 0800 and have it back by 1100.

I will buy another car from that first dealer--that was a great experience, but aint nobody got time to deal with incompetense like that service department! :flipthebird:

Well, I got an appointment for tomorrow morning and a rental car waiting for me that I can keep until they get my truck right. Hopefully it won't be more than a day.

What are you getting charged for an oil change in these trucks? My dealer quoted me $90 for my 6.4 but it is full synthetic. I bought one of their service contracts and got 4 oil changes for $180. I can't do it myself for that much.
