I know, another headlight thread!

I have a '14 RAM with the stock useless headlights. I've tried adding LED's but am not happy with the results and realize I need to spend the money on something better. I've decided that the TYC stuff is the way to go but I need some assistance. As I understand it I need the projector lights AND the wiring adapter I listed below, correct?

https://shop.retroshop.us/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=13.Adapt

I actually tried a "live chat" on 'Carid' on several occasions but gave up after having no responses after 10 minutes. Hoping members here can set me straight!

Thanks~~

Get the headlights (unless you can find some OEM ones), the harness adapter from Retroshop and an HID kit from them as well.

Don't have the quads so not sure what the harness you need is but it looks like the correct one. If you want really good light I would go with this kit.

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/morimoto-retroquik-dodge-ram.html

It does involve opening up the headlights but the amount of light you can get out is much better than the stock projectors with a HID kit.

Or you could always wait for the quad projectors morimoto is coming out with priced around $1250 they said.

I installed a set of the black TYC projectors and the adapter wiring harness in the link above from retro shop and no issues.
HID’s in those projectors are a huge improvement in my opinion.

One sidebar question. I'm assuming that if i could score a set of OEM projectors i'd still need the adapter leads? My truck is a '14, post Canbus installation but I assume even the OEM lights would need the adapters.

Yes, if your truck didn’t come from the factory with projectors, you’ll need the adapter.

Hello Team,

I have a 2018 Ram 1500 Sport w/ Projector head lights, as this post title states...it pretty much throws off the look for the beauty. I called dealerships and i cant get a proper model number on the bulbs.

One dealer said D3S bulb, another said 9005HL & 9005SL.

I want to put Hikari's eyes of megatron LED bulbs but not sure which ones im getting?

Is 9005HL/SL the same as 9005?

thanks in advance.

If you have oem quad lights, you can swap the h11 low beam bulbs to h9 bulbs with a minor modification. This will nearly double your lumens for less than $20

I’ll be selling my OEM projectors once the ones from morimoto come out. If you don’t mind waiting on them. But overall quality of a projector with an HID kit is the way to go.

If you have projector style headlights put in some HIDs. That’s what’s recommended.

I ordered the items in my first post today. I was partially motivated because of the tariff increases that will be coming, but also by the general good reviews from everyone here.

Next will be the install and then selling off of my extra items~

I just ordered everything today too! There was a 15% coupon on Ebay so got both TYC for 16+ Rams for $508 .... Picked up the harness from Headlight Revolution along with the Morimoto XB vertical fogs and adapters... looking forward to install but I too need to find a decent light ... I'm thinking led over HID only cause I was getting anxiety looking at all of the wiring for HIDs (Im sure its real simple once I just start doing it). Recommendations?
