HELP ME, Pretty Please @RamCares My dash leather has quickly and catastrophically delaminated and shrunk. My 2019 truck has about 65,000 miles. I previously noticed what I thought was minor warping and chalked it up to vehicle age, until I saw that what had happened to me had also happened to others. Then, I started reading on the Internet and discovered that this is actually being reported by a lot of people, some with model years as recent as 2022. Like all the others who have posted here, my dealer estimates around $2,300 installed to fix this. I cannot find an upholstery shop that feels confident they can repair the leather. I understand that on occasion, you have helped other owners offset the cost of this replacement. Can you help me get this fixed? I purchased the highest trim truck you offered, and I've been good to it. and a RAM Fan for life. Thank you.

Any updates on this situation from @RamCares? I noticed the problem yesterday on my 19,000 mile 2019 Longhorn. This is my first RAM, I purchased it new and it has always been garaged. I have been patiently waiting for the order guide to be published so I can order a new electric RAM with the range extender. I am a big proponent of this technology and am very anxious to see how a known production issue with the dash delamination is handled before spending over $100,000 on a new truck with new technology.

Spending $100,000 on a truck! No way ever! It’s a truck not a Lamborghini! As for the delamination there are numerous threads discussing this and resolution is 50/50 on getting Ram to fix it.

On Friday I took my 19,000 mile 2019 Longhorn to Lake Norman RAM which is a large local dealer just outside Charlotte, NC. They contacted me this morning that they will not do any courtesy discount on replacing the dash due to the manufacturing defect leather delamination. I am really disappointed that they did not offer any assistance at all for such a well know and well documented defect. After patiently waiting with cash in hand for over a year for the RAM extended range electric to go on sale, I am looking to the competition. This has been my first RAM truck and I have been a big champion of the brand. @RamCares = not as much as I had hoped.

Perfect! Looking forward to continuing our conversation.

RamCares confirmed that I am out of my warranty period. Which was of course the reason I contacted them. Looks like they are no longer assisting with this manufacturing defect.

Hello, @at_t_2d and others!

If your vehicle falls outside of warranty parameters, then your dealership is in the best position to submit any requests for cost assistance. They are directly empowered to assist in this area. Know our team is available for additional questions if you would like to send us a private message.

I spoke to the dealership again as suggested by @RamCares and they said they are unable to provide any assistance. The advisor said the system they use will not allow them to submit a request for assistance on a 2019 vehicle even though it only has 19k miles and the dash delamination is a widely known manufacturing defect.

Come on man! That doesn't look so bad. My 2019 didn't just have leather pull up but is was so bad it broke the plastic trim on the dash to pieces. Fortunately mine happened when it was two years old so covered by warranty. Unfortunately once the warranty expired (last October) it is happening again. First comes the bubbling as the glue starts giving and now I see the plastic trim piece that holds the dash above the instrument panel together has been warped enough for that part to separate. Its deja vu all over again.

All that after trading in my 2001 (bought new) in 2019 with pledges from the salesman that the Disintegrating Dodge Dashboard option was NOT included with my 2019. Yep, my 2001 dashboard wasn't leather but a plastic that just broke into pieces and eventually fell in to whatever is under the dashboard. I pulled all the pieces I could get to out and luckily found a skin/cover on Amazon for about $119. That "old" issue that has "definitely been fixed long ago" was so known that Amazon even had a perfect color match for my 2019.

I think its the heat here in Alabama that makes the glue, bubblegum, or whatever they use for binding, fail. With my 2001 it was the cold. We don't have much cold but when it was as the heater ran I could hear, and literally see, the cracks forming.

Good luck with Ram Cares. I couldn't even get them to tell my why my 2019 Laramie Longhorn didn't qualify for the leaking rear window issue even though someone here posted the TSB and I matched all the conditions. Power sliding rear window. Model, leaking around the window ...

Here is our conversion regarding why mine wasn't covered by the special warranty/TSB fix:

"I looked up your vin. Your truck isn't covered."
"Why isn't it covered. My truck hits each check point for qualifying for the fix."
"Because it isn't covered, sir."
"I hear you saying that but what is the actual reason?"
"You aren't listening to me. I have fully explained why it isn't covered. I'm hanging up now. Click"

The dealer could not determine why it wasn't covered either. They said it seems to be random to just deny one truck and fix another. Luckily for me the dealer did a good faith (whatever it is called) fix for the rear window leak because I'm a good customer. Though I only buy a Dodge every so often. 1975, 2001, 2019 and 20NeverAgain.

@RamCares if this is a known issue, which we and you both know it is... why doesn't Ram extend the warranty on this component? Coming from a manufacturing background this is clearly a manufacturing defect that is likely tied to the glue not bonding properly. Either the leather was defective, the plastic in the dash wasn't cleaned properly (or had a defect), installation wasn't properly performed or QA inspected, or the glue was defective. Either way, it's a manufacturing defect.

Oddly enough, in 2019 FCA still owned the Ram brand. In 2021, when the dash problem seems to have subsided, Stellantis took ownership. As with any new acquirement Stellantis likely had their own supply chain and negotiated to switch over components to their Tier-1 suppliers.

Just make it right.

It hasn't subsided. I have a 2021 Ram Longhorn Limited with separating dash leather. Dealer put in for good faith request with Ram. Came back with me paying $800. For the fix. That's totally ridiculous. It has 49,000 miles and has always been maintained per the owners manual. This was an $80,000 truck. Should have better quality than this. As for Ram Cares, They don't.

Same issue here. 2019 Limited with 36K mileage. Spoke with Ram and they denies the warranty. Ramcares couldn't help saying to contact the dealer. The dealer continues to submit it on the "Goodwill Program" but it keeps getting "kicked out" with no reason given.

I’ve had the same issue and unfortunately Ram and the dealership both have not been willing to fix it, there was no issue taking my money just no help fixing the problem. Definitely Last Ram/Chrysler/Dodge product i will waste my money on.

The other day while cleaning the truck, i noticed a bubble on the dash about 2 inches in diameter. uh oh....i knew what it was even tho i do my best to keep the sun off of it. I began cursing Ram trucks for this until i began researching this issue. What i found was this is not unique just to Ram trucks, but, numerous other vehicles have that same issue, one forum the guy owns a fairly newer Corvette that also began delaminating his dash.

He posted his "fix" for this: he bought some good quality leather/cloth glue and several syringes. He meticulously filled the syringes and carefully began injecting the glue under the bubble. He said he did about 20 holes. The syringes don't leave any marks when they puncture the raised material. He also cautioned not to stick the needles in too far to avoid hitting the padding underneath. Then he added some weight and waited about a day to make sure the glue dried.

His finished picture was amazing...you could not tell where that bubble was and there was no signs of repairs. I'm going to attempt the same thing on mine before it gets worse.

the glue is "Tear Mender"...on Amazon for 10 bucks
the syringes are "Gluco-Care" 27 gauge pack of 10 for less than 6 bucks.

it's worth a try...and if i'm lucky, it'll come out as good as his did.
