I have a 2019 ram classic 1500. Just over a year old with 22,000 on it. Had it in to the dealer for some warranty issues, mentioned to them there is a loud rattle behind the dash. They said oh yeah we know what it is, some screws and foam padding are missing from around the A/C components behind the dash. "It's a common problem." When I picked up the truck after they were done I read the service ticket and saw that they discharged and disassembled the A/C box and components in the dash to perform the work. The service ticket says they ordered and replaced the seals/o rings and recharged the system. Nothing about replacing the oriface tube or accumulator/dehydrator. I always thought that any time an A/C system was opened these needed to be replaced at a minimum. Since there was no failure of the any of the system and the truck is so new should I be concerned with contamination of the system and future premature failure of the compressor due to contamination?

Thanks?

Was this: 68447796AA a part number listed on your invoice?
It's the filter/drier that goes inside the condenser coil.

Without knowing how long the system was open and it's probable the tech plugged the lines when the disconnected them while working on the system.
The machine used for handling the R-1234yf actually monitors the refrigerant quality being pulled out/pushed in and monitors system vacuum levels for leaks while operating. The machine takes the guess work out of dealing with a refrigeration system for techs that don't know.
Desiccant in a refrigeration system is there to deal with moisture, the refrigerant they pushed in was dry. Like you said this wasn't a system failure so there is probably no foreign contaminates.
These systems actually use a TXV not an orifice tube. It's a block at the inlet of the evaporator.
The system is most likely fine. Run the system a bunch, if there's a problem it will show up.

That makes sense. My past experience with older truck that have had compressor failures and system replacements led to ongoing issues and the system never was right again. A/c systems just make me a little nervous. Thanks for the input!
