I just recently bought my new Kenwood double din. I got an estimate for it to be installed at a local shop. They quoted me $960. I was in complete shock when they said the price. I asked them for more details as far as the pricing and materials. The dash kit by itself is $599 then with their labor rate and how long it would take them to do it. I was shocked. Anyway those who have updated to an aftermarket radio. What dash kit are using? In addition are also using the maestro as part of your wiring harness and antenna adaptor? Thanks in advance

Since you have the ra2 5" radio, as long as the radio you bought is idatalink capable I'd recommend getting the idatalink maestro rr and ch3 harness so you can retain the options available through the radio.

Installation is really easy.

If you have the USB plug on the center console, dont forget the idatalink acc-usb-ram usb port cable.
keeps that center console usb working.

Tons of threads here, and videos on youtube, showing exactly how to install. took me about an hour.
might want to upgrade your speaker wire, and speakers. while you are in there.
running it thru the doors is tricky but take your time. videos on how to do that too.

installation in these trucks is a breeze. there’s a pretty decent amount of room behind the radio. I wouldn’t pay a company to do it unless you just prefer to have someone else do it for warranty purposes.

I used the metra dash kit for like 15 bucks. I think all in, with the $150 harness, i’m still under $450 total on this install
