We have seen the 6.4 swap in the 1500 but has anyone seen the new cummins 5.0 swapped? I know I know it's not in the rams but come on its cummins and it should be and it's better than the ecodiesel for what I would want it for.

Can't say I've seen it done, but i want an eco diesel in the worst way and won't buy one until it comes with a bigger/better engine, doubtful that will ever happen but here to hoping! IMO the 5.0 Cummins that Nissan got is what the Eco Diesel should have been from the beginning. I was extremely disappointed when Nissan got that motor.

I drove a 18ecodiesel the other day “wife wants a ram” and man it’s nice. But we also drove a pentastar and that was nice too. I think they’ve fixed the reliability issues of the eco but still has me concerned too

If I remember correctly it was supposed to be in the ram and perhaps the power wagon or a variant of it. That’s what they designed it for. Chrysler worked with Cummins to develop the 5.0 diesel. However this was around the time that FIAT took over/bankruptcy. So then fiat decided to go their own route for the eco diesel. That left Cummins with an engine and no vehicle for it. That’s when Nissan stepped up and took it. There were also rumors for some time that the tundra would have the 5.0 Cummins in it.

Supposedly ram didn’t want the 5.0 Cummins in the power wagon cuz they felt the engine is too heavy to put in a heavy truck package and it didn’t significantly increase power/ability over the 6.4 gasser

I believe the Cummins 6.7 is too heavy for the front suspension and frame. I don't see this bring done.

The 2500 CTD gets better fuel economy and can tow/haul more than the 5.0L/Nissan can for about the same $$$. If Cummins made it 4.0L 6 cylinder with similar fuel economy as the current EcoD 3.0L, that should have been the ticket.
Dodge missed the boat about 20 years ago by passing on the Detroit Diesel 4.0L DELTA engine for the 1/2 ton platform(there was a Durango prototype with one installed).
VM Motori was owned by Detroit Diesel back then.
