Picked it up. They said once they unhooked my aftermarket stereo and dash cam, the pcm took the flash. Not sure if they meant the Kenwood or just unhooked the power wire from battery that goes to amp. They had someone come in from FCA i guess to figure it out.
The ticking and tapping, they said was normal. Even after i showed them the videos i took.....The one advisor said his 17 Ram and Durango sounds like that. Got the, "its a Hemi" quote again. I dont know, but do know what the Hemi tick is and this is alot more pronounced. But who am I to say i guess.......

Did you get your stereo hooked back up..?? Did it effect the truck at all after hooking the stereo back up..??
Sounds like you lucked out, IF, it WAS the stereo that caused the PCM issues. They could have made you pay for a new PCM.

Everything is hooked back up. I highly doubt they pulled the dash to disconnect the headunit. I think they just told me that to cover something up on thier end.
How would i have to pay? If it "was" the headunit, then it would have been a known issue and they would have stopped before flashing for the recall.

Sounds fishy.

Youd figure if it really was the aftermarket stuff they would use that excuse to not cover the repair under warranty.

If your head unit is connected to the CANbus it is probably what caused the problem.
My neighbor who is a Dodge mechanic was telling me about a similar issue with a Caravan with an aftermarket remote start.

Maybe they should send out a bulletin letting all the techs know this. AND put it in the recall letter saying the factory headunit needs to be inplace.

Just did the U53 recall on my 2018 RAM 2500, the ESC Electronic Stability Control light was on steady..and the display shows a mirror image of the first 2 inches on the left of the diplay screen now...what's with a recall that has bugs.. Dealership said the tech forgot to do the last step of the install the ESC light went out but still have the mirror image on display..They said it was normal will check some other RAM's on a different lot...No a happy RAM recall owner today...

Sounds like they're throwing the word "tech" around pretty loosely. I thought a "tech" was actually supposed to know how to do something.
